um, why isn't [ifl]Dennis Colella[/ifl] not a Breakout Player of the Year candidate? i certainlt think he also deserves to be mentioned at least as an Offensive Player of the Year as well.

        LOL & LOL

MrB spelled it out pretty well as to why Colella is not a breakout candidate:

In 2008 Colella had a better completion percentage, better yards per throw, and similar TD/int rating last year (1.4 to 1.6). It's really only the amount of times he has thrown the ball that has given him the better stats, not any increase in efficiency.
And there are 17 (count 'em) quarterbacks with better QB ratings. Not even close, dude.

and Colella has more td's than 7 of those guys and more yards than all but 3 of them, so what's your point?

the guy has more completions, more yards, more td's this year than any other, and all by a healthy margin. we passed so much cuz he was good. in his 7 years he's had 500+ attempts 3 other times in his career. we're not talking about a guy who has averaged 300 attempts per season to the 576 he attempted this season. he only attempted 60 something more passes this season than his 2nd highest attempts in a season, that's not a gross increase in attempts.

For Colella to be an OPOY candidate I would've had to list like 50 players.

Nathan Mullin has 7 total td's. he had a fumble recovery in the endzone for a td. since a receiving td and a fumble recovery td both count the same please update his stats.

I think everyone knows how much I think of Hickman. He is the player that makes the Grizzlies go. He set every major Hartford QB record this year by a large margin. We won 4 more games with him playing nearly every game this year. We have the second best point differential in the league behind Lawrence, we lead the league in 3rd down conversions, have one of the best overall offenses, etc. Jim Hickman should be 2nd in the MVP voting, and should win the Breakout Player of the Year in a walk.

With the other BPotY candidates, most of them were not in starting roles until this year. They produced more because they played more. Hickman produced more over last year, and even better compared to his previous years where he played a full slate of games.

Booher connected on over 85% of his FGs and all of his PATs. What is impressive about his FG% is that he kicks long range FGs, as shown by his long of 57 yards this season. No other kicker has the combination of range and accuracy that Booher has. He is the ideal candidate for STPotY.

Uh, I just considered that maybe guys would think that you can only vote for players listed on the ballot. That would be wrong. Should've mentioned that and now I have added a note about that. Vote for whoever you want as long as they aren't your own players.

I was just being sarcastic. Having a group of guys come up with a list of possible candidates seems like overkill to me. I can depend on myself to come out with a list pretty quickly and can always add to it if need be.

Oliver McKenzie is 3rd all time INT leader for the Mules. Of course he has only played 16 games as a Mules compared to the 50+ games the leaders have suited up for Murfreesboro. Another similar season and Oliver will the the All-time Mule leader in INTs.

Vote Oliver for 2009 DPoY or else you will feel really really bad about yourself in the morning.
