TRIVIA BYTES SUPER SEVEN - Week 12
Bye weeks are thing of the past, so teams will have to gut it out to the bitter end. There are only six games that remain in the season. There are also alot of teams that have the potential to make it to the promise land ... but it will be the survival of the fittest to accomplish that objective.
This week features some interesting inter-conference play.
THE HARLEM SHUFFLE BETWEEN THE AC NORTH & NC NORTH
Cleveland continues its losing ways but still only trails Iowa City by 2 games. This race is still too early to call but another loss by Cleveland should seal their fate.
Their opponent, Pittsburgh, leads the NC North by one game over Lansing on one side of them and Madison on the other. Speaking of Madison, the Demons face the Snipe Hunters of Iowa City this week. Undoubtedly, the race in the NC North will go down to the last week. If Pitt chalks up a win here, the Power could assure themselves to be a contender for a minimal wild-card berth. The Demons need to win even more. They simply cannot afford to give up any more ground in this division with only five games remaining after this weekend.
 #7 - Cleveland (4-6) at Pittsburgh (7-3) .
Momentum statistically favors the Power since the Claws have lost five in a row but TB calls this "close to even", given the fact that the Power has lost two of its last three games.
 #6 - Iowa City (6-4) at Madison (6-4) .
Momentum favors the Snipe Hunters as they have a three game win streak and all in convincing manner. However, the Demons aren't chopped liver as they have won two of three lately.

NUMBER ONE WITHOUT ITS BEAVER
There have been four publications of the weekly SSN POWER RANKINGS . No team has held onto the #1 ranking for two weeks in a row. We have seen the likes of Houston, Hartford, Norfolk and now this week, the Lawrence Phantoms. With Phantom RB Bucky Beaver out for four weeks with a strained deltoid, will there be a new #1, next week?
 #5 - Anchorage (6-4) at Lawrence (8-2) .
Momentum definately favors the Phantoms who have the current longest consecutive winning streak at six. That was before Bucky went down. The Lynx aka Mash Unit Extraordinaire lost a heartbreaker to the Portland Seals last week 24-27. The Lynx are very much in the hunt for a wild card berth and that extra incentive closes the ranks a bit.

MUSICAL CHAIRS BETWEEN THE AC EAST & NC SOUTH
Simple math applies. A win by a team and a loss by their division rival puts the victor as the leader in the division. Odd man out!
 #4 - Norfolk (8-2) at Little Rock (6-4) .
Both teams lost to to their division leaders last week. Norfolk also lost Finger Lozier to injury. Injury also tagged Little Rock TE Lionel Fields, the second leading receiver for the Toads. Toss the coin and momentum is awarded to Little Rock.
 #3 - Hartford (8-2) at Tulsa (6-4) .
Both teams had big wins over the teams featured in the game above, Norfolk and Little Rock. With that said, momentum would seem to favor the team that has knocked off a #1 team twice this year, the Grizzlies. But since we notice that Hartford lost to Little Rock earlier in the year, will they also have difficulty with the team that just beat Little Rock? Seems that we will have to wait to see who is left standing after the music stops.
---------------------------------------------------------------
AC SOUTH vs. NC WEST
The play between these two divisions includes a game between the reborn Salt Lake City vs. a rebounding Murfreesboro, and THE GAME OF THE WEEK.
 #2 - Murfreesboro (6-4) at Salt Lake City (6-4) .
Momentum favors Salt Lake City. Both teams got banged up a little more as the Mules's CB Jose Magnum is listed as OUT and the Stallions WR McKinzie Andrew Renegades is listed as QUESTIONABLE. The Stallions have won three consecutive matches in convincing fashion -- the last versus the high powered Oakland Devils. Murfreesboro is trying to find a way to earn a playoff spot. Adjustments in game planning will be critical for both teams.

THE GAME OF THE WEEK - AC SOUTH vs. NC WEST continued
:!: #1 - St. Louis (6-4) at Oakland (7-3) .
Number 9 vs. Number 7 in the SSN Power Rankings . These two teams have met only once before ... in 2005, with Oakland prevailing 22-19. That was the same year that St. Louis won the Imperial Bowl.
Lots of injury decisions in this game: St. Lous' WR Olin Holst & Oakland's QB Gene Hamilton lead the parade of walking :injured:. Who, amongst the long injury lists for both teams, that are the green light to play only adds more intrigue to the game.
The pass oriented Cardinals are lead by QB Marc McMurray. If Holst does not play, St. Louis will need to find a replacement lubricant to keep the resurgent Cardinal machine oiled. Winning six, the Cardinals have been in every game with the exception of their first meeting with Houston and a game with Norfolk. McMurray has found a way this year and recently he has been on the winning side.
Oakland was riding high until a couple of week ago. Injuries to Ernest Martinez eliminated the one-two punch of the Martinez-Bice connection. So what, you may say ... Bice is all-world too. The problem is that the guy thowing the ball, Gene Hamilton, is also a bit lame. Overcoming injuries eventually test all championship dreamers. Mastering those tests turn a dreamer into a champion. We think Oakland has that mettle.
A win for Oakland will help to stem the recent charge of the Salt Lake City Stallions. A win for St. Louis plops them right in the middle of the playoff picture. The game features two vocal GMs ... an added demension for the enjoyment by the IFL community.
