TRIVIA BYTES SUPER SEVEN - Week 7
A continuation of the short week, and Round Two of this week features one blockbuster game and many other games that have huge value for teams to maintain position.
DANGEROUS LIAISONS
 #7 - Vermont (2-4) vs. Little Rock (4-2) . The Mountainers with four losses this early in the season are outside and looking in the the playoffs picture window. Little Rock, on the other hand, is tied with Tulsa for their division lead. The Toads just cannot afford to get set back by the dangerous off & on Mountainers if they want to keep pace with the flying Cows.
 #6 - Vancouver (2-4) at Pittsburgh (4-1) . Same story as above. Vancouver (with four losses) is also outside and looking in the other window and with just about as much hope as Vermont. Their opponent, however, is not. Pittsburgh is in a three way dog fight with Lawrence and Madison to see who will win out as the "big dog" of the NC North. The Power were humbled by Oakland last week and will need to get their tail (that is between their legs) back up to attention if they want to stay pace with the other big dogs in the division.
---------------------------------------------------------------
LIVE OR LET DIE
 #5 - Lansing (5-0) at Salt Lake City (2-3) . What has happened to the pre-season darlings, the Salt Lake City Stallions? Whatever the answer, the Stallions are now at a critical point in their season. Getting a fourth loss this early would be like putting a nail in their coffin. Lansing, is their opponent and they have a spotless record. Even though the Orgres can afford a loss, they would prefer to play the role of funeral director.
 #4 - Columbia (2-3) at Lawrence (4-2) . Here are two teams that need a win this week and for different reasons. Columbia's reason this week is pure and simple. Win and they can continue to claw and scratch, lose and they get a fourth loss which is the road towards planning for next season. Lawrence, coming off a victory over division rival Newark, doesn't need a loss this week that would cancel their hard fought win from last week. The Phantoms like staying on top of the division ... winning is the formula to do just that.
 #3 - Iowa City (2-3) at Anchorage (4-1) . Iowa City, also a three-loss team, may not be at risk with a fouth loss, mainly because they can potentially win their division with seven losses, like last year. This being said, they still need to watch their Ps & Qs and not fall too far behind Cleveland. The Lynx of Anchorage probably has more riding on the game. A loss will put them two games behind Portland in their division and also give them another black mark when it comes to presenting credentials to get a wild card berth in the American Conference.
-------------------------------------------------------
A FAMILY FEUD
 #2B- Orlando (2-3) at Newark (3-3) . A divisional nasty. Who loses ground to Lawrence and also gets that dreaded fourth loss?
-------------------------------------------------------
MOST ENTERTAINING
 #2A - Wichita (1-5) at California (2-3) . Wichita who is an incredible team with a shit load of losses duels California, another good team who has just recently found their way out of the closet. This could be the best entertainment value on the dance card.
-------------------------------------------------
THE HEADLINER
:!: #1 - Houston (6-0) at Norfolk (5-0).
The blockbuster event of the weekend. When the game ends, another unbeaten will discover its first loss. Both teams were predicted as a possible Imperial Bowl winner. Both teams are playing as predicted.
Lets break the game down.
Injuries seem to favor the Vipers. Houston's injury list: QB Nigel Booker (Questionable), Guards Richard Rapp (Doubtful) & Arnoldo Ellsworht (Out), WR Bryant Beckner (Out), DT Bucky Terrell (Questionable), and DE Luke Pardon (Probable). Norfolk has TE Jerald Hardin (Probable), Tackles Benny Vetter (Probable) and Donnie Aguilera (Probable) on the injury list.
If the Renegades continue to bench Booker, they will let QB Colin Faggins start his third consecutive game who will have clear instructions to get the rock to Timmerman in any manner that he possibly can imagine.
Earlier this week, Norfolk resigned QB Finger Lozier to a six year contract extension. This sealed the Viper signal caller through his 15th season. The exilleration of the contract signing may just be the difference to give Lozier the added juice to have a great game.
The teams met last year in the playoffs with the Vipers winning a hard fought 27-24 victory. Timmerman had 160 yards on 26 carries. Lozier orchestrated 10 points in the last three minutes to insure a victory, which included a field goal with no time remaining. Look for alot of Timmerman and Lozier again.
It just doesn't get any better than this!
