He will be released tomorrow and everyone will have a chance to sign him in the stage after. Argot will not be punished, but it's hard for me to believe that he was totally negligent. If you aren't sure if something is okay, you send me a PM."Larry Deasoooooooooooooooooon" -- Phil Jenkins

Man, if Norton was going to play like this during last season, I would have played him rather than Mulcahey. He's looked awesome this preseason. Granted, its only preseason, but he has done great.

Hmmm....
I appreciate both the hurled insults and the scattered praise
First of all, I didn't know that it would even let me offer a contract once he was released.
He was released because $4M + this year and more for the next 5 is a little much for a Tackle who doesn't look so impressive, and may not survive the league, with no means to renegotiate, it remains the only option.
Nevertheless, I like his run stopping ability which is why I would still pursue him.
Also, since we do not allow an unsigned draft pick to be traded, their is no way to address an inflated contract. In real life, I could let him ride the bench all year long until he came to his senses and could offer a more reasonable contract, or risk losing him at the end of the season. After all, I think I DO own his rights, even in the sense of a restricted free agent...I believe...but I could be wrong if pressed.
The only option then is to release with an intent to re-sign.
Therefore, When I discovered that I COULD offer a contract, I thought, "What the heck.--no wonder he's only asking 270K he knows he's a stooge!" Yes, I know it sounds dubious, but really I thought I would get a "Never" or whatever.
I was surprised to see him sign. And then looked at the consititution to make sure I didn't act out of accordance with the rules.
I will of course, abide by whatever the commissioner decides for the good of the league.
And apparently it has already been decided.
I wish however, that I had the option to match best offer, since there are no other options a GM is given in this situation of renegotiating and is even penalized if indeed he gives me the cold shoulder. But that may just make things more complicated.
Peace. 8)MIAMI VICE - 2074

the issue is that you drafted a guy, a top 5 pick, and there's no way that he'd resonably ask for only $270k instead of cashing in with $15mil in bonus. If you really wanted him, you would've met his demands. Otherwise he gets released or goes back into the draft pool for next year. You were in a shitty position having a guy like that bust. It sucks, but this is part of the game and the risk of the draft. You likely won't get the opportunity to match an offer because JJ will give you the 'past injustices' line.NEWARK BULLDOGS WALL OF HONOR

So he's fair game?? How much is he asking for? :lol:Originally posted by JeffHe will be released tomorrow and everyone will have a chance to sign him in the stage after. I think that JJ should be dropped and open to all the other teamsOriginally posted by Mattwait a second. How does JJ Johnson sign a 1 year deal for $270k?
Is this the cut and sign in the same stage?

Yeah it sucks, but this has happened a few times over at IHOF, interestingly enough with top rated DTs.
