Did any of your opponents ever get "diced" or no?Originally posted by WarhammerI just got "diced" at the end for the third time this year. If any one of those games go my way, we still control our playoff destiny."Larry Deasoooooooooooooooooon" -- Phil Jenkins

It's not that a new set of code gets executed in the 4th, it's jsut that the big risks are taken more often. .. and if a team hits on just a couple high risk plays. .. they come back. I think the high risk plays happen a bit too aften, but it is fairly realistic.Originally posted by SteveBsFanThe 'comeback code' comment was just a simple way of referring to whatever modifiers he has to improve play in the 4th. I didn't mean to sound like some kid on a madden forum complaining because he lost a game late.Originally posted by JeffCorrect. Jim has acknowledged that the more of these, the more effective a QB will be in 4th quarter situations. Not the same as comeback code.
There are also specific gameplans for the red zone and being ahead by a wide margin. I don't see the correlation.
It's just that watching the games, it's pretty obvious to me he has something in there to change the play in the last qtr of the game, and possibly even a little more in the final 2 mins (as QBs also have the 2 min offense rating).
Regarding the specific gameplans for the 4th, the correlation is that he doesn't have any other game plans for any other qtr. Why not have a 1st qtr, 2nd qtr, 3rd qtr and 4th qtr plan? Or a 1st half / 2nd half?
I don't know for sure whether or not there is some boost in the 4th, but all signs tell me the game does not treat the 4th qtr as it does the first 3. I don't think it's a conspiracy thing, nor do I think it's even silly to suggest. I also don't even think it's a bad thing, I just think if there is something in there, it's up a little too high, but honestly not by much.
Take my team for instance. . .I was getting beat consistently in the fourth by comebacks. The reason was that the high risk plays were successful because my dime defense sucked. . .I've made some corrections and have seen improvement in the last two years. . .
But I also think that injuries to the O-line are just way too damaging. . .but Jim might have gotten that right, and I'm just jaded.2005 AC North Division Champions

You did, I was really worried for most of that game because my defense has apparently taken the month off. Losing two secondary starters didn't help, but I get one back this week. You put together a lot of solid drives, and I kept killing myself with mistakes, but ultimately I was able to finish the game off thanks to a solid ground game when I needed to kill the clock. My offense is crazy streaky, it's a pain to watch sometimes. I'll get drives where I'll go 80 yards in 8 plays, then go 3 and out for the next 4 possessions.Originally posted by BuddaKINGIII thought we played good we just missed out on some opportunities to score more points. Also FOF bad clock management did me in...
Bring on Little Rock, time for week 2 of my playoffs. It's do or die, if I lose my season is pretty much over.

Just watched my game now. I was in Buffalo yesterday, and I got totally hammered by accident.
Good game Orlando. I think Crespo wore the defense down a little at the end of the game, but your Dline played well most of the game.

Caro has been great ever since he was taken off of the trading block.Originally posted by JeffThough I got to be honest. I have no idea who I would vote for MVP. It's pretty debatable this season. It's tough to differentiate the QB's from their surrounding talent. If Portland can reel off a 9-7 season I don't think I would have too big of a problem voting for Caro.
I also have no clue who I'm voting for. To me, I'm looking for the best player on a playoff team. Caro could solidify his stake with a playoff berth, though I'm not sure if they're all but eliminated.NEWARK BULLDOGS WALL OF HONOR

Sometimes yes, most of the time no. I haven't had a string of extremely good luck since the 2004 season.Originally posted by JeffDid any of your opponents ever get "diced" or no?Originally posted by WarhammerI just got "diced" at the end for the third time this year. I understand that this game is a big RNG where you try to manipulate the output. What I don't like is when the game seems like it is a big RNG where I am trying to manipulate the output.
The real kicker for me is goes back to the Norfolk game. We throw the ball with under a minute and stop the clock and give Norfolk a chance to win. I run the ball, I win that game. Yes, I understand that I had the game set to 35% run in the situation, but only because I can't set something for 10 minutes and under in the 4th qtr with a lead and another for under two with a small lead in the 4th. This is another area where I prefer 2k7 to 2k4 because you can make some modifications there easier.
Also, in 2k7 I could have tweaked my coverage and personnel a bit more due to the circumstances. Regardless though, a 3 deep zone is not that much better than a 4 deep zone for deep passes.
Anyway, as I said, I am still a bit more upset about the Norfolk loss than I am this one. I am just frustrated with the way this one played out. I had my 4-deep and 3-deep situations up, and still had my pass d, which wasn't bad for the majority of the game, get eaten up.
