Mules do not capatialize on their chances and blow a home game against the hated VooDoo. I think this is the first time the Mules have faced Willoughby and of course he gets a win - lol

Louisiana was 3 for 3 Tds in the red zone while the Mules were 2 for 3 and that was essentially the ballgame, one stop for a FG was the difference.

Gotta win in week 17 to keep from goint 0-6 in the AFCS

And Warhammer. I know how you feel. Last season I saw team after team become an offensive juggernaut after slowing them down for 3 3/4 of the game. It's one of those things I just don't understand about FOF.
I wouldn't be so upset with the loss if it would have been a back and forth affair and we lose a close game. I really wouldn't.

After three games where we have been up big and have absolutely dominated them and then to turn around and lose this one like we did is just baffling.

I switched my game plan a bit and threw downfield more, which I gambled because I figured that you do tend to give up some big plays, and if I could get one or two big plays it would be enough to hold you guys off, and I was right, I had the right game plan, I just got "diced" at the end for the third time this year. If any one of those games go my way, we still control our playoff destiny.

I thought this was going to be our year to return to the playoffs but apparently its not. Still, I can hope that Portland pulls off the upset Week 17, and I run the table. Or maybe the Toads can pull through, but it's still a long shot.

All that said, another reason I am taking this so hard is our division is going to be absolutely BRUTAL next season. Hartford, Boston, Norfolk, and an improving West Virginia is going to be extremely rough. Ourdivision winner could be the best team in the conference and still go 9-7 or 10-6.

Hey I know what it's like WH. I definitely think there is some type of 'comeback code' in the game. All too often you see strange things in the final 5-8 mins of a game, no matter how the game looked until that point.

Todays game, I was up 28-7 in the 4th, and even with a 5 min drive from the Cards, they were able to score 2 TDs and have the ball back on their 15 with 2 mins to go to tie it up. Luckily it didn't happen this time.

In the first matchup we had this season, I also dominated the Cards for the first 3 qtrs, leading 17-3 and holding them to like 150 total yards or so (can't remember exactly). Then before I knew it, 17-9 (xp fail), then 17-17 (2pt succeed), then 24-17 Hou, then quickly 24-24. OT, Cards win 27-24.

It doesn't just happen to me though, i've been able to do miracle comebacks as well. In fact, I did one against the Cards last year. It seems our matchups are definitely not over until the final seconds tick off the clock.

Regardless, it's weird and frustrating when it happens. Granted it does happen in the NFL, just not as often as FOF. Oh well, i'm not complaining, more just relating to your frustration.

You should have won the game no doubt. I looked at the stats before the final score and I was surprised that I had won. I like the Willoughby vs. the Mules story. Here's to next year!

At what point do you think the comeback code starts to kick in? As soon as one team is behind? A certain point of the 4th quarter? How do you think it works? Do the ratings of the comebackees get raised by like 20-30% or something?

There is a stat in the game for 4Q comebacks, and specific gameplans for 'normal 4th qtr and 4th qtr deficit'.

I don't think it's that far of a stretch to suggest he has something in the code to allow for different gameplay in the 4th qtr opposed to the other 3.

If I were to guess, he has some sort of ratings bonus when it comes to the 4th qtr. I don't think it's a bad thing to have, as teams often play more desperate the closer it gets to the end of the game, but I just think the miracle comebacks happen a little too often.

Correct. Jim has acknowledged that the more of these, the more effective a QB will be in 4th quarter situations. Not the same as comeback code.

There are also specific gameplans for the red zone and being ahead by a wide margin. I don't see the correlation.

The 'comeback code' comment was just a simple way of referring to whatever modifiers he has to improve play in the 4th. I didn't mean to sound like some kid on a madden forum complaining because he lost a game late.

It's just that watching the games, it's pretty obvious to me he has something in there to change the play in the last qtr of the game, and possibly even a little more in the final 2 mins (as QBs also have the 2 min offense rating).

Regarding the specific gameplans for the 4th, the correlation is that he doesn't have any other game plans for any other qtr. Why not have a 1st qtr, 2nd qtr, 3rd qtr and 4th qtr plan? Or a 1st half / 2nd half?

I don't know for sure whether or not there is some boost in the 4th, but all signs tell me the game does not treat the 4th qtr as it does the first 3. I don't think it's a conspiracy thing, nor do I think it's even silly to suggest. I also don't even think it's a bad thing, I just think if there is something in there, it's up a little too high, but honestly not by much.

The problem is deep passing is too effective (and/or secondaries are too ineffective).
