Time to start voting on the Owner Awards for the 2007 season. Here are the catagories, and maybe some guys I think you should take a look at (the front runners).
Feel free to use this thread to suggest a player you think guys should take a look at when they vote. You can pimp your own guys or other teams. Remember, you are NOT ALLOWED to vote for your own player(s). This is how we have done in the past.
Here are the award catagories, and just a few suggested players for each.........
Your votes are to be PMed to me. Deadline: Imperial Bowl, so two weeks.
Breakout Player of the Year
Award for player who previously did little in the league, and put together a big year. Only guys at 4 years of experience or more should be considered. Examples....
QB Milan Costanzo, Reno. (maybe? definetly a career year for him but not sure he fits the definition.)
TE James Caylor, Lawrence.
WR Daniel Williams, Cleveland.
LB Armando Sandusky, Reno.
LB Frank Smith, Murfreesboro
DE Karl Cronin, Little Rock (once again, does he fit the definition?)
Give me your thoughts for the examples list since this isn't the easiest category.
Special Teams Player of the Year
Joseph Bailey, WR/PR, PIT
Gaston Lomelli, RB/KR, OAK
Trenton Woodcock, RB/KR, REN
Any of the punters or kickers.....
Offensive Rookie of the Year
Nicky Kersey, RB, WVA
Troy Copeland, RB, AQU
Dominic Field, WR, POR
Blake Ameche, WR, POR
Sherman Jarvis, WR, LAN
Defensive Rookie of the Year
Wes Martin, LB, WIC
Kirk Gannon, LB, ORL
Dexter Gregg, LB, REN
Freddie Swift, DE, IWC
Jeremy Ellison, DE, TUL
Karl Austin, DT, NFK
Duane Edwards, CB, ORL
Neal Furgeson, CB, MAD
Preston Benson, CB, MAD
Offensive Player of the Year
QB's Chung, Stanfield, Irby and Caro all passed for over 4,000 yards. 4 QB's had 30 or more TD passes. No one had a rating over 100.0 though.
Crespo with 2,000 yards again and 342 receiving. Other RB's had more TDs though and still had good numbers all around.
WR Glenn Bess set a new record for yards receiving.
Jason Downer of IWC even broke the KRB record, so maybe he gets considered....
So many choices....
Defensive Player of the Year
Probably the widest open category? Lots of LB's with numbers that look the same. Not any super standout sack artist this year. No one pulling away with the INTs.
Coule be a good year for a Safety to win it, has a few INT's, some decent Defn numbers, high tackles. An all around guy may take it this year.
Be sure to look at those lesser recognized numbers this year to decide. Forced Fumbles, QB Hurries, these things could be good tie-breakers.
Most Valueable Player
Look at the areas for guys who are possible here. I take into account team record, and just how much I think that player holds that team up. Look at both offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
Owner/GM of the Year
Once again, this can be based on whatever criteria you want. Team performance, adding stuff to the league like web pages, written articles, whatever. It is up to you. Once again, no voting for Cringer.
