I kind of miss the XFL. It was half-decent minor league football wrapped up in a bunch stupid, ridiculous, hype. Plus, we had a team in Vegas, which was cool. And He Hate Me. Outlaws were the best show in town.

Problem with the XFL is whats the problem with alot of new sports leagues. They want YOU to find them, get into them, get to know them. Fuck that. XFL should have had a televised draft show, with a real fuckin draft, where you got to know 6-10 players per team. Prime time on NBC was a killer as well.
MSL, fuck, i was ready to get into the MSL but their debut game was sort of just thrown on espn willy nilly. MSL could be so succesfull if they played all their games on 2 days during the week, like wednesday nights and saturday afternoons, put them on ABC and rotate start times so they can show finishes staggered if certain games are interesting. Have a fucking televised draft and show who the stars are. Allow people to become immersed in your product BEFORE your product hits the air.

XFL started with people knowing Tommy Maddox, and thats it.

The rasslin' influence was too much though. I expected to see a little old lady bum rush the huddle and whack the QB with a folding chair or something.

I knew it was over when I went to a sports bar and they would not switch a TV to it and showed WOMENS college roundball instead - WOMENS sheeze

You know a year after the league folded I couldn't find ANY Outlaws gear (t-shirts, hats, jackets, etc) anywhere in town. I only winter there (some years) so, I missed the clearance sales, I guess.

They promised something better than football the way it was... but it wasn't. Just plain old football. But that was more than okay with me. The hype was way too wrestling influenced, including some of the names of the teams. Just dumb. And not youth-friendly. Like The ManiaX and the Hitmen. "Gee, Daddy, what's a hitman?"

But it was spring football and it was fun for that reason alone. But not many freaks like me would waste their time watching what was basically minor league football.
