    observations for week 12.

-That stupid whore of a kicker Fox got a late FG to barely get Columbia a win. I am thinking I am screwed. Columbia keeps winning, and because I am sure iceman is still using Jeff's offense I am not sure I can beat him in a couple weeks.

-3 big ass games by running backs Alan Crespo(Newark), Chris Webb(Lansing), and Jacques Crosby(Reno) move them all ahead of Orlando's Dewitt Flynn in the rushing title race. Even though Flynn had a nice 100 yard game. All three of he other guys had over 170 yards. Anyone even realize Chris Webb was a leading rusher? I look at that list about 20 times a week atleast, and I am still surprised by it.

-Iowa City won, but Audrey Beamer runs the ball 21 times for 10 yards. He doesn't win Player of the Week, shocker.

-St. Louis and Louisiana both lost, kind of a surprise. The biggest surprise to me though was Portland getting a damn solid win over Vermont. I didn't think they had it in them.

-Everyone, a big hand for Cleveland's new ownership. Though they lose in a nasty Pittsburgh comeback, their QB Latham passes for over 300 yards. This is the first time in franchise history a Cleveland QB has passed for over 300 yards. They have had their QB go over 200 yards only 3 times before infact, 2 of those in the last few weeks. Cleveland has been playing stonger too because of this.....

Should have kept McKelvey, he is doing fairly nice for me this season.

his own record from 2003 even. had 15 that year and has 13 right now.

the rushing leaders are interesting. 2 of he top 5 are rookies, 3 of the top 12 are.

then you also have two guys who would be considered 'scrub' running backs in the top 10, STL's Felts and Portland's Hirst (Hirst, LRK RB Brian Dixon's former back up, is out rushing Dixon).

              also just noticed.

the top 5 passing leaders in yards, 4 of them are the 4 QBs from the NFC South.

I tried pretty hard to get Hirst to back up Crespo. In the end he ended up signing with POR and getting the opportunity to start.

edit: either that or I ran out of cap room and had to withdrawl my offer 8)

A victory over the Lynx moves us out of first place but Vermont's loss helps us move towards a wildcard berth. I didn't think any of the top NFC teams fighting for a playoff spot were going to fall this week.

Edmund Peacock has woken up from his seasonal first half slumber and got 2 sacks, 8 tackles and plenty of QB pressures in this game on his way to POTG honors.

Next up is a Texas team who has beaten Lawrence once per season in the IFL's young existance.

a nice way of saying you have never won against them.

Damn. Killed by a poorly timed fumble in OT when driving the ball. That stunk. Guess playoff hopes are pretty shot in WIC now.

Sometimes I can't figure this game out. Latham was the second coming of Joe Montana for most of the game: he was throwing bombs into double coverage against pass aggressive and hitting 30 and 40 yard gains left and right. Then the last two minutes come around, and 39 year-old Aaron McKinzie is John Elway. Unreal. Defense came up big when it had to though: Cleveland's last three possessions were 9 plays, 5 yards, and 3 punts.

Tough loss Cleveland, game plan looked pretty good and I had it pencilled in as a loss, except why were you doubling Peterson/Richard and leaving Little on single coverage?

Oh, and we had a 20 play, 10 minute drive, is that any kind of record?

nice win, and Norfolk shouldn't even give a shit since they can afford a loss.

Anyways, I was worried about this one for obvious reasons. Wasn't sure if I should try to pass as much, because of those two safeties. I backed off of it some, but Given is still the guy who won the game for me I guess. Olin Holst had a huge game receiving.

Kept Brown and Lozier in check too. Lindo didn't even give up a catch, phewww....
Cringer .. congrats ... when I was developing my gameplan, I just kept looking at the talent on your side of the ball and then kept scratching my head on how to beat the better talent that was documented on paper. Obvioulsy, I could not find a magic formula since the better talented team won convincingly. The Vipers will need to regroup and adjust to this lesson. As I think you said in an earlier post, better for us to find out now than in the first week of the playoffs.

Hats off to a better team and game plan ... & hoping to meet again.

One thing with this game is that a seemingly scrub RB can play really good (not become great) with just a few key categories with red bars and a nice line to run behind. I call it the Denver Broncos rushing scheme.

Great game Vermont. I wasn't giving myself much of a chance, and following the game log, I thought we were done after missing 2 FG's and blowing the lead, but Caro rallied us in the 2 minute drill for the game winning FG, which we nailed.

4 game lead with 5 to play. Much happiness in Portland this weekend.

Thanks but I wouldn't call the Toads the better team really. I know everyone thinks we should be damn good because of the talent, but we have our flaws.

And you did not go 10-0 on accident. You got a good team. I was so worried about TE Harden that I backed off of any blitzing so that he would be covered by the LB's. I also limited double teams, just so the safeties would be able to help on Harden if needed. Maybe I overdid it a little, because your WR Tilley had over 130 yards and a TD.

Anyways, as much as I would like to go the Imperial Bowl, I am not sure I would want to face you, you have a hard ass team to gameplan against because you have bigtime options all over.
