    Important Website News

    As some of you may have notice me saying from time to time, I have had problems with the server this site is on. After trying to work through it with my host company, and not coming up with a solution, they have offered to move this site to another server.

    As we speak I am testing the server through FTP and am having absolutely no problems. I have uploaded about 300-400 files now and not a single error or disconnect. Smooth as it should be, unlike the current server.

    As far as when this will happen and how it will happen, this is the answer I get from my host.

    If it is confirmed working, we will duplicate your site on the new server and update the DNS settings. While DNS propogates, some visitors will come to your old site and some to the new site. This all depends on the ISPs, that's why there is really no time estimate for this. However, with this setup your site's downtime will be minimized.
    I am going to set up a dumb little site on my SBC account, and that can be used as a temp. way to communicate, along with email. I will also link to a proboards msg board I will set up I think.

    I will email all this info out when ready, and I will also post in the MP forum at FOFC the needed contact info.

    I am within the half hour going to tell my host company to go ahead with this. Trust me this is a huge need, even though you may not notice many problems from your side. I would be surprised if anything happened tonight or tomorrow morning, but I will request my host let me know when down time could be expected.

    I will update you as best as I can.

    Sweet timing. Is our method of uploading exports gonna change? I know that it can take days for the DNS to propogate for everyone.

      Knew I forgot about something. Thanks.

      After tomorrow it would probably be best if everyone (oh crap this sucks) emailed their exports in to me.

      And as far as the timing goes, it can't be helped. It is this being done now, or I change to a different host and we have down time anyways.

            .....ok, so. When I find out more tomorrow, I will email you again telling you if Saturdays export for FA stage 1 should be emailed or not. This all could be put off until Monday or started tomorrow, do not know yet. I need to hear frm the host.

                        I'm assuming the FTP problems were very pressing? Because with the draft starting it seems like the absolute worst time to switch servers (at least from my perspective as a user and not an administrator ). What if we try and make changes to our draft utility but it ends up on the wrong server? Do we get an error if we hit the wrong server?

                          Ijust emailed VPI97 and told him to hold off on updating anything unless he gets it done soon. So that may not happen until Monday or so.

                          The draft is not going to start until next week. The untimed part is now being dropped completely. We will start the draft at the date specified in the schedule, the timed draft starts date.
