I would say that you are very ill informed. Both Eli and Archie both stated that Archie had nothing to do with the decision. It was all Eli's. Eli has yet to disclose why he didn't want to go to San Diego. When last asked, he stated he"forgot." My guess it might have something to do with organization and/or interview with the team that convince him that San Diego would not suit him.

Archie is far from being a loser. He conducted himself professionally throughout his career and in retirement. He definitely earned the admiration and respect of his peers and teammates. As I mentioned, he was donated both time and money for a number of charities in New Orleans. He may not have brought success on the football team, but he very far from being loser. I guess when you only have half the story it is easy to get the wrong idea about someone.

Of course Eli is going to cover for dear old dad. He's not going to publicly blame him. The response of, "I forgot" tells you all you need to know. You can defend Archie all you want. He's an asshole and a jagoff in my book. Nothing you post in this forum will change my mind about him.

If you want to believe the nonsense that is your failing, not mine. Archie has repeatedly stated that he chose to stay in New Orleans because he was committed to bring a winner. To him that meant he would accomplish something special. It didn't happen. What you fail to realize is that Eli stated that it was his decision and when asked why, that is when he said he forgot. I think he is just being a bit snarky. You clearly made up your mind based on false rumors and conjecture at the time. Eli could have definitively stated the reasons and you will most likely still place the blame on Archie.

          The facts are this:
The Mannings (at the time) never stated any reasons for not playing for the Chargers. All communication was done through the agent.
Both Eli and Archie both stated that it was Eli's decision.
It is a far more likely scenario that Eli saw similarities between the Saints (at the time they drafted Archie) and the Chargers and didn't want to be in that kind of situation. Ironically, the Saints was still a young franchise and there was no reason to assume the franchise would continue to suffer. Tough in hindsight, Meacom Jr. was an ignorant fool.

It's not a unique scenario. John Elway refused to play for the Baltimore Colts after being drafted by them. So, like it or not, it's happened before and it's going to happen again.

I WAS a charger fan and Season Ticket Holder. We were pissed about the way the deal was handeled. But looking back I would say San Diego got the better Quarterback (Rivers) and some draft picks to boot. Now that the Chargers have "Bolted" for L.A. they and the Spanos can go to hell. I'll change my allegience to the Az. Cardinals. I have never been a Eli Manning fan.
