    GG Iceman,

The once explosive IWC offense has succumbed to the nuances of FOF 8. But we're winning with defense now, 10 - 3 this week. Despite being down 3 - 0 at the half, I was optimistic headed into the 2nd half. Columbia had out-yarded us 192 to 71, run 45 plays to 18, and had a time of possession advantage 22 to 8. I felt our offense would not play that poorly the entire game. And Hillery did rally the offense to cobble together a 4 play, 68 yard TD drive around the 2 minute mark.

Close game until we grabbed the two picks deep in Cleveland territory. We then managed to pull away quite comfortably after that

Really struggling defensive wise. And I also have a series of very complicated games coming up...

I'm totally feeling snake bit...2nd game in a row we pull out to a two TD lead only to watch it evaporate with big plays at the end.

            GG Firebirds!

Montreal Firebirds are still undefeated and held the Beasts in check beating them 23 - 3..this will be the team to watch this season.

Dussault has been running the ball pretty well but the former #2 pick is having a hard time crossing the end zone this season with still 0 rush tds.. maybe it's time for a playbook adjustment.

Wow, I knew we would struggle on defense and we did. Giving up 20 + points a game in the past three games is something this defense doesn't do; however we were missing two key defensive starters. Fackleman was the hero, two INTs (4 four the year) for 91 yards and one touchdown. The second put us in position to kick the winning FG has times expired. Offensively we were poor, averaging less than 2 yards a carry and Edwards rating was under 70 with two interceptions. This is a game we should had lost.

The odd thing it kept saying the defense was familar with the play a lot. I didn't make any changes from the previous week and last week I do not recall reading at all. Strange. Every time it said that it was a bad play and most of the time it was a running play. It odd to work out that way since most running plays are similar. it is an execution thing not a familiar thing.

                Hey Pike,

Thought I'd provide an assist re: the cause of familiars. It's overuse of the same formation. And as a FYI, 6 passes were familiars, only 4 runs. It's a good idea to check the logs before making assumptions. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "it is an execution thing". Familiars are familiars...period.

Anyway, back to my point. You ran six 203 formations by the 13:46 mark in the 2nd quarter. That's a lot. You had 10 familiars in the game. Any guess how many occurred in the 203 formation? That would be 9. Try mixing up your formations earlier in the sequencing of your GP.

Now, when the familiar trigger kicks in is somewhat dependent on a dice roll. At least that was true in FOF 7 and I would believe the same logic will occur in FOF 8. That could explain why familiars happened in this game. But you can mitigate that issue by mixing up the formations.

When you read it ten times; it is just a lot.
Running plays are about execution. This is true if it is a trap, counter, misdirection, draw , etc,... Pass Plays have "patterns." In a vintage game, Bobby Layne threw an interception and it was the fourth time he threw the pass.

I do not run every formation, so I can see how this is possible. So is it the formation that is familiar or a specific play. I hope the latter, because I do not see why I have to use many formations. If that is the case, then we would need more 2 back formation, like a true strong and weak alignment for the RBs (what the game calls strong and weak looks more like a near and far). I do not like empty backfields. A one back formation is a "change of pace" formation for me.

I went ahead and reorganized by plan.

I aopprecuiate the feedback, but this comment is not appreciated and more importantly not needed. Let's keep this friendly and fun. This is just a game!

Not quite sure why this is offensive but whatever. I was only attempting to make the point that game logs are a good source of information and some deeper analysis is useful.
