GG Hooper. This one really highlights what bad shape our offensive line is in. Some of it is injury some is just not doing enough on my part. QB with SR with poor o line gets pressured and sacked all day. QB with no SR and good o line has time.

      GG Mules/AI,

Our offense is really clicking (49-23 win) as we are averaging 40 points/game. On the season, Hillery has a 143.2 QBR.

Both teams stormed down the field on teir first possessions however our pressure managed ot bog down Texas in the red zone. The ole gunslinger threw (another) pick 6 on a 3rd and long. After converting on a 4th and 2 we managed to grab the lead back with an efficient drive. After forcing Texas 3 adn out we drove down and managed to get TD on the ground this time however top wideout Floyd Fingers went down with an injury. Texas finally put a positive drive together to cose otu the 2nd but ra ou tof time and had to settle for 3, leaving us at 21-13.

Texas' chance to tie things up was ended prematurely after a tp drill pick giving us great field position to take a dominant lead however oru run game continued to lose yardage leading to another dangerous 3rd and long at mdifield. After foricng a 3 and out, not ly did RB Teeter lose yardage but he coughed it up setting Texas up in teh redzone down 8 in the middle of the 3rd. However Texas also couldn't create a faovrable 3rd down and had to settle for 3 but no the kicker missed it. We managed to swap the field position ont eh enxt drive but also lost our best tackle to an injury. One had ot think if we woudl have enough firepower left to put hte game out of reach. Texas drove down teh field with teh D offering little resistance and even got hte 2 to tie us up at 21 early in hte 4th, the pass rush had dissapeared. Bacup tackle gave up 3rd down pressure nd we had to punt but we forced a fumble and would get new life at midfield.

The run game fianlly got some yardage and with the injruies we tried to get the TEs involved more however had to settle for 3 on a 4th and 1 there was a lot of debate on the sidelines as to whether to go for it but with under 8 minutes to go, we opted for the lead. THe molestr threw another pick in the face of pressure and we woudl get a chance to really put this thing away starting at the Texas 40 but we coldn't capitalize and Texas would get another chance with 5 minutes left starting at their owen 20 but no another pick this time to recent signee Linquist. Backup (and soon to be starting) RB McCabe managed to pick up a 3rd adn 5 essentially icing the game however QB Mahe got a bum ankle after a cheap shot from a frustrated Texas player.

Reviewing the boxscore we confirm that YPP were even after our offense slowed down in hte 2nd but Texas had 4 TOs to our 2 and went 1/2 on 4 redzone opps. Floyd Fingers was on track for a monster game with over 100 yards and 8/9 o targets but will miss 3 weeks. New CB signee Linquist only allowed 2 catches and grabebed the gamesealing pick.

          GG DG.

I figured that it was always going to be about QB Montemayor in this game but I didn't expect that Dakota would not run the ball at all, not even a QB scramble. Zero runs in the whole game! That was a first for me but has anyone ever seen that before?

The other key feature in this game was the fact that we scored on our last possession of the first half and then scored again on the opening drive of the second half to change what had been a 10-10 game into a 20-10 game without Dakota's offense getting onto the field for 24 plays. When they finally did get the ball CB Will Parrella picked off a pass intended for WR Teddy Knight to set up another Thunder TD making it 27-10 and setting up the game for a barrage of Montemayor passes that we were fortunately able to survive.

These types of one-sided game plans never work. The familars kick in and the offense has difficulty sustaining drives. Dakota had ONLY 8 familars. Actually, I'm surprised there were not more.

I'm guessing that the fact that Montemayor has 14 known formations helped out on that front. Even so there was only one TD difference in the game so in spite of what looks like a skewed gameplan it could have gone either way.

DJ Wolf runs for 178 yards including a 51 yard TD. Defense is stout and pitched a shutout. Crane was respectable, but I have to get rid of some of these -4 yard screen plays. Frustrated that we would run the ball down the Tigerhawks throat until we got inside the red zone and decided to pass on every down.

Unfortunately we've run over another AI team, and I don't know that we've been tested yet. Power Rankings have us and Las Vegas near the bottom despite being 3-0. My opponents have gone 1-8. Benefitting from a easy schedule.

Now we have a bye week....then Pennsylvania before hosting the Ponies, in what seems to always be a very important matchup.

But the bottom line is that Dakota lost. Montemayor had been tearing it up and had an average game at best. The other point I forgot to make is that offensive performance degrades even before familiars occur. Thus, those 8 familiar plays were only part of their diminished performance.

0-3 now after going to the Bowl last year. Injuries on the offensive side of the ball are killing us -- with 7 players (including multiple starters) injured. We can't score points with so many players on the sidelines. 4 of our first 5 games on the road isn't helping matters.

we seem stinky this year. too many years of no draft picks is hurting depth and defense.

we win the game, but we're not doing it like i'd like to
