Them guys should be released, the other teams never got a chance to put a bid in for them. They were released and signed the same sim.

I agree. Everyone should have a chance to sign those players.

I also agree the AI and me have something in common... I dont value old players either. I love how other owners will try to sell their old AF players for top picks when the guy has like 1 or 2 years left in his career and is just a rental.

I disagree. First off, all of the human players had time to trade for the players. Secondly, I don't police the AI. So if this had been any other time and wasn't advertised that they were being cut, the AI probably would've signed them and nobody would've noticed. Also, the AI is at a disadvantage already. So giving it this one little loophole seems ok for competitive balance.

I don't disparage the fact that AI picked them up. It grieves me that they would sign for so little when they were asking 10M to stay with our team.

I agree with Hoops on this. All the humans knew these players were available and no-one traded for them so the AI having an edge in FA is acceptable in my opinion. I do agree with Argot as well that it's pretty rough that they would sign for so much less elsewhere but we all know that any computer sim is going to have things that it doesn't do well and I guess this is one such instance.

Who cares if they were available by trade. It doesn't even matter, when a player is released every GM gets a shot at the players. This has happened before in the league and Matt told everyone and released the player the next sim. Why give up a draft pick to sign a guy I can get for free on the waiver wire? Doesn't make much sense to me.

I posed the question to Matt and Vito and haven't gotten a response. As I said in my earlier post, this could happen any sim. Just because it was advertised that they were being dropped and someone happened to look seems arbitrary. So the AI can do this 99% of the time, unless it's someone we want. Then I cut them? That seems silly. Much like the roster limit debate, I'm not going to check this crap every sim. If everyone thinks they should be cut, I'll cut them. But I will not be policing every move the AI makes or every stage someone might go over the roster limit maybe perhaps.

I like the fact that the AI came in and stole them for 2M. Argot was willing to move them for a 7th and not a single person wanted them. I think it makes up for the fact that the AI is less likely to match our FA bids during the offseason.

Lesson should be if you want a guy bad enough make the trade or risk losing out.

the only point that i see that "even's the field", is that the AI teams are poorly run. this is an advantage, but the AI needs these advantages to be remotely competitive.
Does it suck losing out on a player? yep
