  • Forum Slowness

FYI, I am aware of the forum slowness for the past month. I assume every gets it because I do on multiple devices. I've tried a million things and it never gets better. It makes no sense because FFL & USFL are vBulletin forums also on this account and they seem fine. USFL is comparable in size and posts too. Right now I'm thinking of just starting fresh when we go to FOF8. People would have to register again and we'd lose whatever forum history we have, but does anyone even look at that? Thoughts/ideas are welcome.

Of course it's been a little quicker since I posted this. I may still do it though. And/or I may upgrade to vBulletin 5.

i may be the only guy that would like to keep the history. For me, we've had the IFL since 2004 and it's great to go back and reference old posts/trades etc. some of the other older guys might do the same as me. i'm not sure.

my vote would be to keep the history if possible!!

Yeah, I'm wondering if upgrading to vBulletin 5 would fix the issue. Or I'm thinking of a separate install with leaving this for historical lookup.

In a perfect scenario, I'm with Matt. There have been times that the only thing that keeps me coming back to this site is the history of my involvement. That being said, the IFL today is not what I remember and if I'm honest, probably has to change. The days of hoping that people like Jave and SovStar would at some point come back and join us is pretty stupid at this point, although its cool when they come back to the forum.

I've had a pretty rough 2016, so I really haven't been active this year - as seen by our 2-13 record. (That and I don't have a QB), but I'm concerned that the same is true for others in regard to general chatter. I don't even have a good idea of who is still involved at this point. I know we have people who yearly post to the roll call, but then don't see them post at all. (I of course am the chief of sinners.)

I'm going into my 12th year calendar year with IFL, and it is the only league I've stuck with. I've been a bit lackadaisical about buying FOF8 and have asked myself, "Am I done?" (I've finally dropped OOTP) Part of the question of am I done, is what quality of league do we have going forward.

All that to say, at this point I will defer to what is best for the future of the league. I'm rambling beyond that point

Ya, it's hard to even describe what we used to have here. on a single day you might log on and see 100 new posts during the draft time. gamedays often had 30+ posts in each thread. I know for me, life is busy. A lot has changed for me since this league started. what i did with my free time in 2004 is much different than 2017.
In regards to FOF8, i've bought the game and tried to mess around with it. good lord. this game is almost too much for me to even look at. It's overwhelming. i don't even know where to start. I started a career and rex'd my plays and got to preseason week 3 and had to quit. it felt like work!!

i'm probably gonna get my ass kicked in FOF8

Yeah, activity on the forums has waned a bit. We still get exports though. And I'm hoping FOF8 breathes some life into everyone. Even if it's "I hate FOF8" posts, it's still activity, right? ;-)

This was more of a forum slowness post. It's hard to imagine activity going up if the forums take forever to load. I'll figure something out in the next couple weeks.

I'll try and post content if that maintains interest -- it's just something that I never think to do.

just went through memory lane a little bit this afternoon.

QB Travis Kennedy was a FOF2k7 player and converted in the 2027 season to a FOF7 player. Hoping he sticks around to be available in FOF8.
