It's hard to work a project who never sees the field. Kley didn't retire and his backup is much better than Gene at this point.

Gene looks like he has potential, but he could just as easily tank. A 3rd is a steep price to pay at this point.

So he's exactly like anyone a GM would draft with a 3rd round pick.

I think sometimes you guys rate draft picks based on where players who have panned out were drafted - forgetting all the other busts. Fact is that a 3rd round pick is usually a role player or a bust. I'm confident that I can do well with 3rds but the reality is still that only 6-10 quality players will come out of the round. For someone who's not great at drafting I think Morton's worth gambling a 3rd on... especially since the IFL as a whole has gotten better at drafting recently and a 3rd ain't what it was seasons ago.
