There seems to be some objection with my asking price for Martinez. Lets review the facts:

Martinez is first all time in recieving yards with 7006.
Martinez is 5th all time with 43 recieving touchdowns.
Martinez is 7th all time with 1264 yards after catch.
Martinez has played, and started in nearly every game in his career since the IFL began with 82 out of 95 games to his credit.
Martinez is in the prime of his career, starting only his 7th year in the league. Recievers can play quite a few years in the league. Best I have seen is 15 years in the "other" IFL with Randy Moss.

He is asking top dollar, yes, but he well worth it. If you feel he is only worth a 2nd round pick...don't bother sending me a tell. I will keep him before I trade him away for peanuts.

Jave if the only consideration was talent vs value you have a point, BUT that is far from the only factor in the equation. The 800 pound gorilla you are trying to ignore is the 12m salary and the recieving team only being guranteed 1 year of service from Martinez.

It'll be interesting to see what Martinez will command on the FA market.

Like Kobek said, the pricetag is too high. Even if he's willing to re-sign a bit cheaper for this season, you still have to deal with his $12m salary that teams have to have available before they can rework a contract with him. As it stands right now, that leaves 9 teams you can work a trade with, and if teams want a little breathing room for other moves while they try to re-work his deal, that leaves about 3 teams you honestly have a chance at trading him to.

That is unless teams free up a lot of cap space, but you get the idea. In that case it becomes a buyers market for him, which is sad because i'd gladly give up a 2nd for him, but I couldn't even if I wanted to.

Martinez and his 12-million dollar demands. It's about time we owners started saying NO to some of these players. I think Booker wanted damn near 12 million to stay in SLC. The guy I got in return outplayed his ass AND got us to the NFC Championship...not to mention that I picked up a lot of damn good players off-loading his ass.

Jave you should really sign him and keep him there in Oakland so I can win the NFC West again and perhaps home-field in the playoffs next year
