i would've preferred a 3rd rounder, but i think getting a 4th for a guy who's likely gonna play this year and then retire, or at least play one more season at reduced ratings, is a fair deal. i'm sure i'll be able to get someone very serviceable with that pick. not every pick has to turn into a stud franchise player, some guys you just wanna be able to keep on your team for a while.

Not that I would want to hold this up for a 2 week injury but is there no injury clause or anything in the IFL?

It's cool if we have to write that in the trade but I was under the impression all players "traded" but not "exported" yet went on the inactive list to avoid injury. If Almieda was injured for anything longer than 3-4 weeks I'd be pretty pissed right now. I had previously figured similar to the "pending passing a team physical" in the NFL that a player "traded" in the IFL and then injured in the next game, though rare, would nullify or at least pause the trade until confirmation from the receiving party that the deal is still on.

Just looking for clarification. After today's game I need additional secondary more than ever.

whenever this happens to me, i.e. in season trades for players, I always ask the GM I'm trading with to make the player inactive. We have no other rules regarding GM lineups involving traded players.

I asked HA to put him on the inactive list and his exact word were: "FU and your team! Not only will I not inactivate him but I'm instructing the trainer to loosely tape his ankle today and Herman will be playing with a Sharpie in his sock in the event he gets a big play in his last game with us. I'm secretly hoping he strains a foot ligament."

I thought he was joking but when I saw Almieda go down and the med staff pull the marker out of his sock I realized this Law/Cal thing just escalated.

how long is he out for? 2 weeks? with my other safety being injured for the rest of eternity, i actually need Almeida now more than ever, ironically enough.

i only had 3 safeties on my roster for this game (including Almeida). if the trade was going to get done it needed to have been processed before the game, that way i could've signed a replacement off the FA pool. suicane already apologized for not getting to it sooner. sometimes it happens. i didn't have time all weekend to check to see if this trade was processed or not. even if it was processed yesterday i doubt i would've had enough time to try to field a legal roster and find a replacement safety.

As Herman nabbed an errant Virgil Sepulveda pass and brought it back 44 yards to seal today's post-season clinching victory any doubt in the minds of Phantom Phans on whether or not this was a good trade were eliminated forever.
