Richardson's lack of elusiveness makes them incomparable IMO.

However after looking at Sui's roster I'm thinking this trade is worse than I previously thought. Those picks are in no way certain to be in the 20's. If he can get a complete OLine for the season then Austin will help tremendously - otherwise he might be a wasted pickup.

Of the top four RB YPC leaders last year, how many have elusiveness over 50?

Not sure but if I had my way (in 2004) I'd have 3 RBs with full bars in breakaway speed, hole recognition and elusiveness with just enough to get by for endurance and avoid fumbles and the rest of their bars could be at zero for all I care. I know from all the games that I've watched and discussions that I've followed those are the ratings that seem to matter to me.

Not saying I'm right and theoretically I'd like all the ratings to matter but in my experience they don't.

This is a good point, StL has one offensive lineman rated over 40 on their roster right now and no real cap space and only one pick in the first three rounds.

Answer was zero. None of the top four YPC leaders last season had elusiveness over 50. However, three had hole recognition over 50, and Richardson has about twice the HR of Austin. Which, while elusiveness is always good to have, I consider them comparable (not to mention, Austin's career YPC is 4.57 while Richardson's is 4.66).

You make good points. However there's also the fact that stats depend on a multitude of things (schedule, roster, game situation,etc...).

Richardson looks pretty good. I still think Austin is better but you've convinced me that they can be compared thus they're comparable.

FWIW Bucky Beaver went up in the conversion while Tim Austin went down slightly by my scout.

After looking at this I see that my my scouts ratings show 2 of the top 4 (since 1 is a FB with no elusiveness rating to speak of) and 6 of the top 8 YPC leaders last season have elusiveness over 50.

wow...this trade is crap.

i'm all about trading 1st round picks if you can get a sure bona-fide stud. trading 2 1st round picks for a guy you can sign in free agency, a guy rated 50ish overall? oof. that's bad GMing. yeah, some guys are good fits for our team/system, but when the price is 2 first round picks you gotta ask yourself if there is possibly some other way to accomplish that.

if your team stinks next year and you wind up with a top 5 overall pick - that's a lot to give up for Austin. if you get a top 5 overall pick in 2011 that pick can be the mega stud RB you're trying to aquire. if you have a bad season a top pick is really the only thing that makes up for it. it's bad enough to have a shitty season, it's really fucking bad to not have anything to show for it.

if you wanted a RB so bad you coulda had [ifl]Larry Deason[/ifl]. at least he's rated in the high 60s. i was interested in Austin, but only as my backup. shit, how much better is Austin than my backup Otto Smith? you can't say he's 2 first round picks better. best of luck to you. you much have some mighty long arms cuz you certainly reached this time.
