i don't like this deal. i think just cuz i don't value mid-round draft picks doesn't mean i should be so cavalier with handing them out like free condoms. but offensively with what i'm looking to set up Deason will be a much better fit. long term i don't have a prob with Lincoln being my full time starter, Deason probably shouldn't look for a house in California. but Beaver and Lincoln were basically the same player. and in some aspects i valued Beaver *less* than Lincoln cuz Beaver has a much worse endurance rating and pass catching abilities and third down abilities (although Beaver's 3rd down rating ain't too shabby). but with Beaver and Lincoln i had 2 speedy happy feet scat backs, and what i needed was one speedy happy feet scat back (Lincoln) and one ram it up the middle of your ass till it bleeds power back (Deason). i mean, i don't know if your scouts can see this, but mine sees Deason and his 100 rated power inside rating and i foamed at the mouth. with my offensive line??? ooof. i needed a player who could take advantage of my inside power running game. with Beaver and Lincoln i pretty much had to rely on outside running cuz they were both fast outside runners. now i have the best of both worlds. but yeah, i paid too much. shoulda just gave up the 3rd round pick. to me a 4th round pick shouldn't ever hold up a trade when a RB like Deason is involved. and that TE is the same TE like the one i gave up except cheaper and better at blocking.
Lincoln's lack of hole recognition will prevent him from being a consistent back. You take a 5 mill cap hit next year by trading Beaver and take on a back whose contract is expiring (though that doesn't seem to bother you much).
understandable. i was never a big fan of Beaver, to be honest. the way i see it if i have to pay $5million so that i have a RB who can take better advantage of the offensive line i put together - that means running as much as i want inside as i do outside rather than being forced to lean towards outside running - then i'll pay that $5million. i didn't put that O-line together cuz i wanted to look at 300 pound fat asses. i want them pass blocking, outside run blocking and power inside run blocking. and its not like Deason isn't going to be franchised if i don't like what he's asking for. he's also an obvious upgrade over Beaver (ratings wise). 3 years from now had i kept Beaver i woulda had 2 very nice RBs, but now i have 1 very good RB and one very nice one.
truly, the Heroes now have the IFL equivalent of Thunder and Lightening. you best believe the tshirts are being printed as we speak.
...whose contract is expiring (though that doesn't seem to bother you much).
If he doesn't resign Deason, this is easily a win for Cleveland. Lincoln is a third down back at best, but I liked the Beav as the first and second down back.
