AP - There has been some discussions about extending the contract of RB Jerry Daugherty. It is unsure, as of yet, why Newark is willing or wanting to extend his contract. Daugherty has been in the coaches doghouse, and playing time has been reduced to return duties. Some are speculating that the re-structure is so that Daugherty will be easier to shop with a managable cap number.
Another potential reason for the extention, is a position change for Daugherty. He's been seen practacing at every position on offense including FB, TE, and WR. That's right, WR! At 5'8" and over 235lbs, it's been somewhat humourous.
