MADISON, WI -- In a predraft blockbuster trade, the Vermont Mountaineers have agreed to send the first overall pick in this year's draft to the Madison Demons for two 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks, two 3rd round picks, and 2nd year TE Erik Diligencia. The deal was agreed upon early Sunday morning.
All signs point to Madison moving up to select QB Owen Whalen from Texas Tech. The signal caller from Marion, SC is the clear consensus #1 pick in this draft. After a stellar career running the Red Raiders offense the junior has bypassed his last year of eligibility to enter the Draft. Whalen will come into the league with a lot of hype and most likely to a team that has had trouble filling Will Irby's shoes since his retirement over 10 seasons ago.

Madison's new head coach, Dan Stickney was caught off guard with the move and had no idea such a move was coming. "I went to sleep last night not even knowing such a deal was even being discussed to be honest", said Stickney. "I guess this move points to the team drafting Whalen but I'm not the GM of this team, I just coach who they give me." Stickney may have been caught off guard but he has to be thrilled in his 1st year with the team he quite possibly has someone of Whalen's talent at the QB position.
