1.6 (WR) Kenyon ELLARD
With the (early
) retirement of Monarchs legend Phillip Diedrich and the FA loss of Hunter Stills to Texas, the receiving cupboard was uncomfortably bare. A wideout was always the #1 priority and we were happy to see Ellard still available at 1.6 from a fairly thin WR class.
Well sized, with very good combine numbers across the board and promising bars, the very underrated Vanderbilt star should step right in as Ouellette's no1 target in his quest for one more ring.
We need a big rookie season from Kenyon.
2.5 (OG) Deion WORCESTER
Any early 2nd round pick has got to produce a starting quality player in my book. OG is not a sexy pick but this was all about BPA.
Worcester is pro-typical size, with nice combine scores and good looking bars.
The knock on the Louisiana State junior is that he came out of school early and is extremely raw (6% development).
London's interior line has seen some high draft picks spent in the last couple of years. If veteran Keith Clay holds his bars into the new season, Worcester may get a chance to learn his craft as the reserve interior lineman.
3.7 (C) Danny CHAPMAN
The Penn State center is slightly undersized and posted solid rather than spectacular combines but he run blocked like a road grader through his college career.
With Tristan Moln likely set as London's anchor on the O-line, Chapman was drafted with a view to backing up all three interior line spots.
We like his skill set and he may well switch to OG through Training Camp.
5.5 (LB) Aaron FRANCIS
Francis is a big, strong inside 'backer who plays the run well, hits like a tank and has excellent looking pass rush and pass strength bars.
With no coverage skills he was drafted as a project. We may look at him as a DE or see how he plays as a big bodied specialist pass rusher.
6.7 (DT) Gage CHAN
Chan fills a roster need as a cheap back up for the "Gruesome Twosome" Riley and Peterson in the middle of our D.
Chan is a space filling, all round DT with a great motor. We hope he develops well learning behind two of the best.
