Texas is Hopeful

Texas ownership was very optimistic coming in to the 2025 season.With good reason too. QB Lester was expected to excel in his 3rd season(31TD-4INT)Check. WR Dwayne Mathis was ready for a breakout himself.(16TD)Check. And due to the unexpected retirement of TE Jack Bennett Texas drafted TE Jerald Atkins with the 8th pick in the draft, hoping to at least minimize Bennett's loss. The defense was also looking like they might make some noise this year but from the start of the season it was downhill. First, my 2024 pick CB Zack Koontz went from 74/74 to 40/40. Not a good sign. Then in week 4, starting safety Russell Zimmerman goes down with a serious clavicle injury and gone for 8 weeks. In week 7, Not to be outdone. starting CB Artie Dignan goes down for 6 weeks with a groin injury. Then the worst one of all, in week 10, DT Jerald Whalen rips his quadriceps and was done for the year. At that point we were 6-1 but that start wasnt going to last. With 3 defensive starters out Texas went 3-5 the rest of the way. Now we are at a point where we need a little help from Georgia against Little Rock and a win against Tulsa to secure a spot in the playoffs. Good news is that other than DT Whalen all of the defensive starters are back and offense seems to be on a tear, averaging 32 points a game the last four games. If the defense can get back to early season form then I think we can make a run in the playoffs this year. But we aren't overlooking Tulsa by any means. Always a tough game in Tulsa no matter what the records and I suspect that the FOF gods will make it a nail biter. So come on Georgia, we need your help here.

Tough luck, Tim. Sucks to be 10-6 and on the outside looking in. You've got a solid base to build from though so you should be back.
