  • Oakland Assassins 2025 Draft Class

    1.3 - DE Sean Tyler - 52/83 to 58/85
We could have gone several different directions with this pick. We contemplated taking QB Burgess here. We also debated about taking WR Lyle here. We ultimately chose Tyler, because he was the best player available on our board.

    1.14 - TE Albert Horne - 33/67 to 38/71
We almost took CB Parrella with this pick, but our front office just couldn't see a 5'8, 177 lb. corner making a significant impact for us. Interesting, because he taken right after, at 1.15. Horne should provide some balance to our passing game, as he should be able to give our QB(whoever that is) another target.

    1.26 - OLB Kendrick Gipson - 47/67 to 49/62
Since OG Troy Grimm was selected at 1.25, we thought long and hard here about taking CB Carl Kovacs. We feel Gipson has more upside, which is why he was chosen.

    1.30 - OLB Benjamin Roosenraad - 33/67 to 39/66
With the selection of our 2nd OLB in the first round, our LB corps should be solidified for the next 8-10 years.

    2.5 - CB Mack Zeppelin - 32/49 to 37/53 @ FS
Will probably move to safety, as his zone bar is considerably higher than his man & bump bars.

    4.3 - RB Calvin Eckert - 21/24 to 27/32
Gamble that was picked solely based on his 40 time.

    4.13 - MLB Ty Hall - 23/37 to 23/45 @ DE
With a terrible position score and and given the fact he's 270 pounds, Hall will move to DE.

    5.5 - CB Brenden Fong - 27/52 to 28/47
Press corner, who may also see some time at S.

    5.12 - WR Bobby Shipp - 18/33 to 18/29
We like his size, and he was selected pretty much for depth purposes.

    5.27 - S Blake Page - 26/44 32/49 @ CB
He probably drops in camp, but he will make the switch to CB.

    5.29 - CB Billy Joe Browning - 19/42 to 21/39
Another DB who will probably play both corner and safety for us.

    6.4 - QB Jesse Bragdon - 12/59 to 15/52
This was a scout pick. My settings were wrong on my conscriptor. I'll be shocked if this guy stays above future 50.

    6.26 - WR B.J. Grieb - 16/25 to 18/25
    Depth pick

    7.3 - S Jay Peterson - 14/24 to 18/30 @ CB
Another DB who we might move to CB.

    7.29 - CB Zack Marcheck - 14/15 to 17/19
    Gamble pick.

Given the fact we had 15 total picks, I don't think I've ever studied a draft class as much as I did this one. Hopefully most of these guys pan out. I have no doubt about the top 5 selections. It's the next 10 players I'm curious to see after training camp.

Nice write-up. I'm curious to see what happens with QB Bragdon. His position drill scared me off from taking him earlier (and his low RD), but my scout had him VU and I almost tried to get back into the 5th round to take him.
I was pretty bummed when you took Gipson and LRK took Cassidy right before me, so I decided to take the flyer on Sanderson.

Very good camp for us. We had several increases. DE Tyler, TE Horne, and FS Zeppelin appear to studs in the making. I'm a little bit confused about Gipson dropping 5 future points, but he may get that initial future rating back.
