1 - 13 (13) T Charles Footman
He's a mega stud LT, a no-brainer pick in the middle of the 1st. Also he was pre-approved by new Line leader Earnest Clark, so bonus.
1 - 28 (28 )C Chuck Dorgan
Didn't want to make a pick here, but our trade plans got botched, so we scrambled to make a decision. Dorgan has an affinity with Earnest Clark as well, and he looks like he will be a very solid lineman. He's a better pass blocker than run blocker, kind of the opposite of what you look for in a center, but I'd rather pass than run anyway.
2 - 15 (47) OLB Leonard Fuqua
This guy has some kick-ass bars. Too good to be floating around in the 2nd round. His combines tell me that his blitzing abilities might not be as good as the scouts think, but the rest of his skills should be as-advertised. TEs beware! Fuqua will be locking down the Strong side for years.
2 - 16 (48 ) S Dwayne Wells
Wells is another very solid defender. I'm hoping that his M2M skills are under-reported, and then he will be a perfect SS. He is also a great special teams player, and will probably be locking down a gunner role this year.
3 - 10 (74) WR Neal Egbert
Egbert has a very similar skill set to our newly aquired WR Ernie Gregoire. He has the combines to be a good WR, and with Gregoire around to show him the ropes, he might just become one. Egbert also has an affinity for leader Ben Henson, so double bonus.
3 - 16 (79) DE Dana Schulz
Schulz is another chemistry pick. That makes 4 new Warthogs that are solid players and also affinities. Schulz also has beastly pass rushing skills. He gets easily stopped by the stronger linemen, but his ability to get around the most skilled blockers should make him a threat around the edges.
The baby Warthogs looks like a great group, if not at any flashy positions. I feel that this class will greatly improve Fresno for the future.
