Nigel Booker returns to the lineup this week looking to shake off the rust in the passing game. "It's good to get him back," says league rushing leader James Tart "This offense needs some balance if we hope to make a run at the playoffs." Gomez and Booker have been going at it hard in practice this week and expect to immediately bring the vertical threat back to this offense.
"I want to show the league why the Stallions made the trade to get me", says Gomez who can besensational when he has someone to throw it to him. Grady is looking to dominate the Oakland corners while they are still young because the future suggests that Oakland won't remain the doormat of the IFL for long. "That team [Oakland] is loaded with talent and I think it's just a matter of time for them to get it together we just don't want that to happen this week" Gomez smiled.
If the Stallions can maintain the momentum and get to 5-3 before the rematch with Vancouver, they have a very good chance of beating the Killer Whales. "We had a horrible game against Vancouver, says Booker. "We turned over the football 6 times and suffered our worst loss of the season. We're better than that and I promise you, our fans will see us make amends for that." Amos Hassler added that his defense is going to make plays to keep the Stallions in contention. "We know what the hell is on the line", says Amos. "We got two weeks to make a statement to the league that SLC is for real and I'm putting it on my shoulders to deliver.
6-3 heading into their bye would set them up well---let's hope SLC can back up the hype.
