    Phantoms 2023 Draft

Coming off an IFL Bowl victory and strapped for cash we couldn't realistically expect to grab any impact players this off-season. We traded out early and took our shots late. Below is our bounty.

    2.32 Darryl Greene, WR:

Darryl seemed more than worth a gamble at 2.32. It's always good to get a playmaker in the high rounds and Greene compares nicely to recent lower-1st Round talent in the IFL. We love a big phrame here in Lawrence and Darryl stands tall at 6'2". He replaces the last WR (Arnold) Greene - that we just lost to retirement - who was also 6'2". If can produce 1/3rd of what "Shake" did for us we'll be plenty satisfied.
Due to the #'s required at the position, Darryl's spot on the roster should be safe for the next 5 years if he pans out as predicted.
    Height: 6'2" Weight: 198 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 14/46
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

    3.32 Adam Hinman, SS:

Adam was the fastest safety in this seasons crop. What we're really hoping for is that he can lose some weight and his coverage skills can translate over to CB. His agent has informed us that he has no interest in the switch but we're hoping a training camp with the team will change his mind. We have no need for a safety with less than top notch Zone skills. Lacking the endurance to be a starter, Adam could be very successful in our rotating crew of DBs.
    Height: 6'1" Weight: 215 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 22/46
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

    4.17 Harvey Atkins, LDT:

Harvey is your traditional run-stopper at a traditional run-stopping position. While it's true we like our DLinemen to be able to rush the passer, the NC landscape is becoming ripe with running teams. We can't just have speed bumps out there. We need to stop the likes of Sparkman and the young guy Starvos. Atkins shows a high level of run defense, play diagnosis, and endurance - the 3 things needed to stop a running game.
He's very raw and will take a few seasons to adjust to the pro game, if it happens at all.
    Height: 6'2" Weight: 285 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 8/53
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

Beyond Round 5 we're just looking to fill roster needs before TC. I'll note some of the possible lottery wins where applicable.

    5.19 Earnest Vetter, SLB:

Earnest follows Harvey Atkins as another pure run defender. I don't think he knows what a QB sack is but comes out of college with much potential in all other areas. He looks to play better at ILB but at this point we don't know if we're going 4-3 or 3-4 this season so a position change will not be immediate. His ratings are probably fools gold but if not then we've definitely hit at pick 5.19!
    Height: 6'2" Weight: 238 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 29/64!!
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

    5.32 Chad Allen, PR:

Simple gamble at getting a quality punt returner. As for WR skills: Nothing to see here.
    Height: 6'2" Weight: 215 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 21/40
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

6.20 Bert "Bat Shit Crazy" Correa, SILB/ST:

HUGE inside line-backer with 97 volatility continuing our phocus on run-stopping talent when available. Goes into camp looking like he has a decent shot of being a quality pro. As with Vetter at 5.19, we don't know what position Correa will play.
    Height: 6'2" Weight: 268 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 27/54
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

    6.32 Willie Reese, LT:
    Height: 6'7" Weight: 340 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 6/45
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

    7.12 James Kreidler, CB:

    Height: 6'1" Weight: 200 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 5/14
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

    7.32 Ricky Carter, TE:
    Height: 6'4" Weight: 245 lb.
    Pre-Camp Rating: 11/27
    Post-Camp Rating: ???

MATT OR SUICANE, BAN HINMAN NOW!

Tulsa refuses to play Lawrence if the employ zombies. Now I understand why they are so ggod all the time. Their players dont die.

Hope your scout is right. He was just an Affinity signed to fill a roster spot.

Height matters as far as SE/FL, but has it been at all proven an advantage over smaller Dbacks?

Height matters in my imaginary viewing of the IFL. I don't think it matters in the coding of FOF, but I have a certain mold I like my teams to fit and tall receivers is one of them.

No one appraciates my zombie reference. Boo on you guys.

Look at Hinman. He looks like a zombie biting the arm of that other player.

I had no idea what you were talking about. I assumed it was another pop culture thing that went over my head.

                      Phantoms 2023 Draft Post-Camp

                      2.32 Darryl Greene, WR:

Darryl seemed more than worth a gamble at 2.32. But thus far seems like a bust in the making.
                      Height: 6'2" Weight: 198 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating: 14/46
                      Post-Camp Rating: 17/42 (+3/-4)

                      3.32 Adam Hinman, SS:

Won't change to CB. Out of place on our roster but too talented a M2M specimen to let go for free.
                      Height: 6'1" Weight: 215 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating: 22/46
                      Post-Camp Rating: 25/43 (+3/-3)

                      4.17 Harvey Atkins, LDT:

Harvey is doing his best to make the roster/league, but has a long road ahead of him.
                      Height: 6'2" Weight: 285 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating: 8/53
                      Post-Camp Rating: 14/49 (+6/-4)

                      5.19 Earnest Vetter, SLB->MLB:

The prize of our draft as we enter Week #1! Moved to MLB and is our starter despite his rookie status.
                      Height: 6'2" Weight: 238 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating: 29/64!!
                      Post-Camp Rating: 33/56 at SLB (+4/-8 ), 32/61 at MLB

                      5.32 Chad Allen, PR:

Late round gamble that has paid off nicely so far. We didn't expect any real receiving skills out of Chad but he's having fun proving us wrong. Loving our 2023 5th Round!
                      Height: 6'2" Weight: 215 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating: 21/40
                      Post-Camp Rating: 33/49 (+12/+9)

6.20 Bert "Bat Shit Crazy" Correa, SILB/ST:

Bert has earned a roster spot for 2023. What position he'll play and whether he has a shot with the team in the future remains to be seen.
                      Height: 6'2" Weight: 268 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating: 27/54
                      Post-Camp Rating: 34/50 (+7/-4)

                      6.32 Willie Reese, LT:
                      Height:
                      6'7" Weight: 340 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating:
                      6/45
                      Post-Camp Rating:
                      GONE

                      7.12 James Kreidler, CB:

                      Height:
                      6'1" Weight: 200 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating:
                      5/14
                      Post-Camp Rating:
                      GONE

                      7.32 Ricky Carter, TE:
                      Height: 6'4" Weight: 245 lb.
                      Pre-Camp Rating: 11/27
                      Post-Camp Rating: 15/29 (+4/+2)

Not the best group of draftees but we're a veteran team with no cap space at the moment so that goes with the territory. We should be a player in the draft again by 2025. Until then we can hopefully nab another IFL Trophy...
