Welcome to Tulsa, Sugar! Tulsa shocked the IFL two days before the draft by trading 3 years worth of picks for the opportunity to select Hawaii running back Rich "Sugar" Stavros.
The Dakota Spirit put the pick on the wire, after deciding the best running back to ever enter the IFL wasnt for them. Tulsa quickly acted. Tulsa knows what it takes to win and knows how to obtain players to help them win.
After the retirement of Ken "DH" Singleton, Tulsa has struggled on offense. The greatest treat on wheat was fueled by DH. And it slowed dramatically. With Sandford and Andrews on board and 2nd year receiver Bill Willis having a better understanding of the offense, the offense should fire again this season.
The trade brought about many differing opinions throughout the league. Shock being the most used word. Some were saying that Tulsa got worked, while others were saying that Stavros is a once in a lifetime talent worth getting.
GM Tarcone was contacted about the deal and the player and these were his words "I love this guy. He is a once in a lifetime player. There will never be another running back like this again. We had the greatest running back of all time. I think every record will be broken. As for losing the picks. It hurts. We will rely on free agency and try and build through that for a few seasons. But Im confident that we made the right choice. The Tulsa fans with love them some Sugar."
