Outlaws Add Some Beef

Last Preseason, the Wichita Outlaws rolled the dice and made an audacious trade bringing in RB Vincent Graham from Dakota in return for a 1st round draft pick.

Well, fast forward to the 2022 preseason and the Outlaws are rolling those dice again.
Once more, the Outlaws have traded away their upcoming 1st round pick....this time for Center Clay Keith from division rivals the Montreal Firebirds.

Maybe the gamble isn't as great, certainly the trade isn't as eye popping, but once again UKPatfan is showing he will trade aggressively if he feels it's the right move for the Wichita Outlaws.
Yet again, the Outlaws GM is gambling that his 1st round pick will be a late one.
Will his latest shake of the dice be another double six or will he throw snakeyes?

Clay Keith - The League's premier Center is now an Outlaw.

Keith (6'03ft / 305lbs) is entering his 4th year as a pro since being drafted at 1.25 by the Firebirds.
The Temple alumni has quickly established himself as the top rated Center in the IFL.
Although he has yet to gain All-Pro status, Keith has improved year on year and is a reliable anchor for the middle of any O-line. It is widely thought that he is just entering his prime and individual honors will surely follow.

Outlaws GM, UKPatfan had this to say:

"We have seen Keith twice a season for the previous three seasons and we've watched him develop into perhaps the premier Center in the league.
The middle of the line has been a slight achilles heel for our franchise for several years now.
Bubba Wright did a decent job last season, but we still wanted to inject some top talent in the trenches.
Vincent Graham had stellar production in 2021 and we feel like we still haven't seen the best of him.
With a reliable stud blocking for him in the inside we expect him to at least match his 1500yds from last season.
Keith will help our running game and improve the protection for Ouellette.
We're over the moon to have brought him in."

He wasn't the undisputed starter and he was beginning to unsettle the locker room.
We were resigned to trading him and our line coach suggested we take the opportunity to aim high and land an elite name.
If our 1st is another late one, we feel comfortable with the price paid.
Yeah, it's another slight gamble but Keith is a proven talent with his best years in front of him.
We're expecting to pick late next draft and this move was about maximizing the talent to win now."

I was one of those surprised by your Vincent Graham trade but it seems to have worked out very well - nicely done. The Jackson for Keith trade looks like it will work well for both teams, WIC gets an all-pro type center and Montreal gets a very good center and a #1 pick.
