  • SLC Class of 2022

    Offense:

    1.28 RB Glenn Dixon
    Pre-Camp Rating: 49/62

Future HOF Bryant Turner retired coming off a 9-7 campaign. While I’ve got some RBs on the roster, none of them are as good as Dixon and in SLC, ya’ll already know we run the effing ball.
I liked his combines / bars enough to pass on two WRs I was eying at this spot—that gamble looks promising and I hope he pans out as he’ll immediately be counted on to shoulder the ground attack.

    2.13 WR Mitch Starks
    Pre-Camp Rating: 25/54

With TUL “not-sleeping” on Bill Willis and CHI making a move on Lester Grant, Mitch Starks became the pick I had to make. Many of you know I have had the worst luck with WRs—3 seasons ago I thought I’d surrounded Gomez with some players but they’ve all turned out to scrubs.
Starks joins the explosive FL Brad Harris (67/67) and route-running beast FL Ernie Gregoire (46/46) as a legit 3rd option. The hope is that teams can no longer take away my top receiver without having another guy to make them pay. All Starks has got to do is pan out.

    3.19 TE Antoine Laliberte
    Pre-Camp Rating: 24/46

Drafted him because cast-off TE Everett Lenz [ 42 catches 513 yards ] reminded me what a route-running TE can do in my attack. Laliberte might not be rated as high as other TEs in the draft but he’s agile and BIG; he and Lenz should be a nice tandem.

    3.20 WR Martin Posante
    Pre-Camp Rating: 26/51

In this league you gotta find your WRs because GMs here don’t eff around! As I was studying the draft, I remembered LAN took Mercury Bridges in the 7th last year---I took OLB Rufus Gillespie after looking at Bridges’ 30-something position drill score. Rufus likely won’t even make the team this year and Bridges is 46/48 already per my scout.

Posante is guy I had rated to go maybe 5th/6th round but I took him early. So far, so good.

    Defense:

    4.18 DE Bucky Franklin
    Pre-Camp Rating: 34/51

Caro is getting long-in-the-tooth so I figured I better start looking this year. Bucky was noted as conflict with my D-front leader, but dude is beastly so eff-it I said.

He’s a little small for a 3-4 end but the undersized D.J. Hill has been good for us. I look for Bucky “Buck-Wild” Franklin to contribute immediately.

    4.25 DE Roman King
    Pre-Camp Rating: 22/52

I didn’t interview him so I expect to take it in the shorts come camp—however, if this beast of a man has a good camp, I’ve got two starters on the defensive line.

    5.20 OLB Clyde Marshall

    Pre-Camp Rating: 27/56

The utter failure of OLB Rufus Gillespie and the immaculate beauty of Clyde’s combines/bars were enough to make me pass on taking a DB here. Looks like a starter.

    7.13 ILB Jermaine Friesz

    Pre-Camp Rating: 22/52

    See above

I just hope we don't tank as I don't have 1st rounders for two seasons

I do think he eventually goes to the HOF -- he's got more yards than
