Phantoms GM Jester Blaze cemented a deal today to bring in WLB Tim Beatty from the Portland Seals in exchange for Lawrence's 2nd round pick in the 2005 draft. The move comes immediately following a loss in the Phantoms first game played since losing All-World DT Edmund Peacock to a regular-season ending hamstring injury.
Blaze had the following to say during today's press conference announcing the trade:
"Edmund going down for as long as he has is definitely the biggest setback this organization has yet to face and we couldn't pass up the chance to add an impact player to our defense to help counter that setback. Tim brings in remarkable skills in many defensive areas and now it's up to Hunter (Crawford, HC) to put those skills to use.
We also hope Tim's leadership skills bring the best out of our younger OLB's, allowing them to reach their peak much sooner than they otherwise might have."
