  • Montreal Is Back

Montreal makes their 3rd playoff appearance in the last 4 seasons. The team missed the playoffs last season after a disappointing 6-10 season. The F-Birds rebounded to win 10 games and qualify as a wild card in the crazy American Conference.

Montreal has had an unusual season. The F-Birds won 5 of their first 6 to start the seasonb off with a bang. The team promptly lost their next 2. Another stretch of winning 5 out of 6 followed. Then the losses came again, as Montreal lost their last 2 games. If the team follows this pattern, they should be considered Imperial Bowl favorites this season.

Offensively the team is led by Bruce "Wile E." Cote. Cote had a consistent season, completing 63% of his passes for 3445 yards, 19 TDs and 6 interceptions. Cote was helped by ancient warrior Bobby "Ozzy" Osbourne. Ozzy carried the rushing load to a tune of 1123 yards on 271 carries. The teams receiving corp had no standout, but featured 3 receivers with over 60 catches. Cote distributed the ball all over the field to many different receivers.

On defense, the F-Birds were led by the great Clay Bradbury. Since coming to Montreal, Bradbury has established himself as one of the all-time great middle linebackers in the history of the Imperial league. Bradbury notched another 100 tackle season. But beyond bradbury, the defense struggled. Montreal was once known as one of the best defensive teams in the Imperial league, had an average seaon at best. Montreal finished 26th in the league in yards allowed and 12th in points allowed. They bent and broke at crirical times.

The F-Birds travel to AC West division champion Portland. Montreal will be put to a huge test against the Seals. Portland is a time bomb waiting to go off. If Montreals defense doesnt step up, the bomb could go off on the F-Birds. Portland has an advantage at QB, the LBs, the DBs and special teams. Portlands units also have a distinct advantage except for the F-Bird offensive line.

Montreal will need to control the clock and the ball to hang with Portland. If Montreal can do these two things, they have a chance to win. If not, this one will be over quick.

Solesimic has Montreal favored by 2, while Belco has Portland favored by 2. This game will be a close Montreal win or a Portland blowout.

    Prediction: Portland 34, Montreal 14.

Nice report - Montreal seems to be one of those teams can always be dangerous, no matter what their record.
