Upshaw Hands Off To "Ducky" Mallard

Who Is This Guy? Matadors Third String Quarterback Walter Upshaw Leads LA To Second Straight Win!!!

Upshaw, drafted in the fourth round of the Imperial League's 2016 Draft, has been handing off to Ducky Mallard a lot, but the young gun has put together a qb rating of 85 and a two and one career record subbing for LA's starting quarterback, Debussy.

"I remember drafting him for insurance purposes, he had a solid combine and was underrated, but I didn't think he'd be capable of leading our teams to two consecutive blowout wins. It's surprsing considering his numbers and bars aren't all that much to talk about."

But then again, handing the ball off to Ducky Mallard and having TE Kirk Fehr as a safety valve, does help the young gun.

Upshaw has fared better than the veteran and ex Chicago quarterback JB Fogarty, who's struggled in Los Angeles. Can he lead the Matadors to an upset win over the Tigerhawks...probably not, but he has won two straight, and for LA's injury plagued season, that's impressive. Will he replace Debussy as LA's franchise quarterback? No, but it's a shame he didn't get a longer look earlier in the season.

But, Upshaw does lead one of the Imperial League's top three rushing teams into the matchup with the unbeaten Tigerhawks.

"Everyone knows about "Ducky" Mallard, and we've even had a few unsolicited trade inquiries about our star back--and let me be clear, he's a Matador, and he'll retire a Matador-- but underrated second round pick and backup running back Eric Johnstone is contributing and performing well in spot relief. We'll have to run the ball damn well to beat Tulsa, and hopefully our defensive backs will be healed enough to give them a game."

Great Article on the Great Pumpkins!

Good to hear "Ducky" won't be rotating around the league.
