Roderick Amos... Derek "RZAc" Rezac... Jonathan Lee... all down to injuries in today's 23-10 victory over the hard-hitting Vancouver Whales. They'll all be back.
Perhaps more disheartening is Arnold Greene's 6 catches in 17 targets the past 2 games, or Dana Glover's decision to not return a 71 yard kick-off today... a mere 1 yard in his end zone! These are signs that the clock is ever turning.
But the Lawrence Phantoms organization is a non-stop machine focused on continued success!
We sat down with Owner/GM Jester Blaze for an update on the current affairs:
"As a GM I might be here for 40 seasons so I can't get caught up in any one era. I've always got to have an eye towards the future and as the door closes on the careers of some legends a new one opens up for their successors. 'Shake' won a Ring in his first year in the league in large part to Phantom Great Lenny Romano, WR. I think that helped embark him onto the HOF career that he's had. Hopefully we can ride the success of our veterans like him into a springboard for some of today's youngsters."
"It's been said that Lenny Zuck, LT could be a starter on another team. Well, on Sunday he's a starter for his current team. He's had 3 years behind Derek and should be well prepared and has our full support and belief."
"Junior Clancy's only been with us a short while but has already picked up a few things from Amos. He's now got the opportunity to show that he can be a quarterback in this league."
"Louie Humprhies... it's hard to believe this guy's only in his 2nd year! He's doing everything for us. An absolute gem that one! He'd be leading the league in rushing if not for the other-worldly 'Ducky' Mallard."
"Then there's our young WR corp. We don't know who it's gonna be yet but there are some players in that group! Hawthorne, Whitfield, Hanks, Eatherton... This is the new Phace of the Phantoms receiving unit and they all bring a different skillset to the offense."
"This week may have brought with it some darkness but the Phuture has never looked brighter in Lawrence. The Phuture gets a test drive in the next couple weeks."
At least 8 starters will be in their 3rd year or less for next week's game against Vermont, including 2nd year QB Junior Clancy who arrived earlier this season via a trade with Cleveland. The organization has Phull Phaith in it's youngsters including a receiving corp who's as raw as they come.
The trips to Vermont and Oakland will sure be interesting.
