  • Renegades 2019 + 2020 Draft

Because I am unoriginal, I wanted to start my own draft tracker from last year and this year...

Only doing the top 3 rounds from 2019

    2019

    1-8 Reggie Denning [WR]

    2019 Pre-Camp = 43/66
    2019 Post-camp = 49/66 (6/0)
    2020 Pre-Camp = 61/61 (12/-5)
    2020 Post-Camp = 62/62 (1/1)
    Career Stats = 53 catches, 788 yards, 14.8 y/c, 6 TD, 6 drops

    1-26 Dwight Donovan [S]
    2019 Pre-Camp = 35/57
    2019 Post-Camp = 40/55 (5/-2)
    2020 Pre-Camp = 47/53 (7/-2)
    2020 Post-Camp = 51/52 (4/-1)
    Career Stats = 71 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT

    3-8 Gino Newsome [G]
    2019 Pre-Camp = 14/59
    2019 Post-Camp = 18/56 (4/-3)
    2020 Pre-Camp = 21/52 (3/-4)
    2020 Post-Camp = 25/53 (4/1)
    Career Stats = 6 GS, 44.4 Bpct, 3 sacks allowed, 1.0 sPct

    2020

    1-16 Herman Thornton [WR]
    2020 Pre-Camp = 31/65
    2020 Post-Camp = 35/58 (4/-7)

Draft Notes: Thornton was a risky pick as he decided to skip the combines to prevent an injury that could earn his big payday. He was expected to be a top 10 pick, but his gamble failed as other teams continued to pass on him due to his decision to skip. With Surratt entering his prime years, I felt this was a risk worth taking as it will give him 3 solid WR's and a great young TE to throw to. This move will also make Surratt someone to consider as the first pick in your fantasy draft.

    2-12 Will Rivers [OLB]
    2020 Pre-Camp = 32/62
    2020 Post-Camp = 40/61 (8/-1)

Draft Notes: Rivers, the son of NFL star Phillip Rivers, looks to take over for the unhappy J.T. Kleinecke who was traded away as part of a deal to move up a few spots in order to land him. Rivers has excelled against the pass in college, and can handle any coverage situation he is asked to play. Similar to Tony Duncan, he suffers against the run, so he will have to be used correctly in order to take advantage of his strengths. Look for him to likely start the year at WLB for the Renegades in their 4-3 sets.

    2-22 J.J Farias [RB]
    2020 Pre-Camp = 36/56
    2020 Post-Camp = 37/51 (1/-5)

Draft Notes: With Hasting getting up there in age, the Renegades are looking to preserve his body as much as they can, and needed a capable back to take some of the load off him, and potentially be his replacement when he retires. Farias hopes to bring that and more as he showed solid abilities in college including the little things like picking up the blitz. He will likely be the primary back in passing downs because of that, and the declining hands of Hasting, making this a pretty solid RB pair heading into camp.

    3-11 Joey Stargell [K]
    2020 Pre-Camp = 72/72
    2020 Post-Camp = 76/76 (4/4)

Draft Notes: Another trade-up results in a pick for a position that hasn't really been stable since Hugh Whiting was drafted in the 2nd round in 2006. Despite only playing his rookie contract and 80 games, Whiting still leads the Renegades in all kicking categories by nearly double in some cases. Hopefully Stargell will put some stability back into that position once again.

    5-27 Melvin Sutton [FB]
    2020 Pre-Camp = 29/42
    2020 Post-Camp = 34/48 (5/6)

    6-13 Craig Moss [G]
    2020 Pre-Camp = 18/57
    2020 Post-Camp = 22/53 (4/-4)

    6-16 Grant Toviessi [QB]
    2020 Pre-Camp = 14/46
    2020 Post-Camp = 21/50 (6/4)

    7-16 Ernie Atkins [CB]
    2020 Pre-Camp = 22/40
    2020 Post-Camp = 25/38 (4/-4)
