In a move unforeseen by any in the Football World...
... the Lawrence Phantoms opted not to re-sign their own Bryant White, - subsequently signed by Murfreesboro - and instead signed long-time rival Bulldogs' RB Alan Crespo to take charge of the league's highest scoring offense.
"When we heard Alan wanted to be part of the IFL again we were all for it!" said Phantoms Owner/GM Jester Blaze. "During his short IFL career our whole locker room liked the guy. Considering he played for our arch-rival that says something. He has a quiet, extremely focused work ethic you can't help but admire."
On the loss of Bryant White: "That's a tough one. If we could keep two we would have. Just like you can't have all the players in the league, you can't have all the coaches."
"We feel Crespo is special and has history in the NC East. We had to act now to keep him 'home'. The IFL's nothing without it's tradition and we feel this makes Alan's coaching career Part II of a longer story rather than Part I of a new one."
On why one of the IFL's best ever RBs is weakest in coaching RBs: "Sometimes you're so naturally good at something that you don't focus. Alan observed so much around him that his education was actually greater at all positions other than his own. Truth be told a lot of his runs were actually incorrect as far as what coaches will tell you, but when you're as talented as he was you can make up for lack of technique."
There can be no lack of technique in the coaching game so let's pray this move makes any type of sense.
