It seems like just yesterday that the Warthog's traded a bunch of draft picks for the right to draft all world QB prospect Albert Schwartz. Fresno fans have been waiting for many years for Schwartz to be that all pro QB for them. Fans are officially getting restless.
It seems like just yesterday that the Warthog's traded a bunch of draft picks for the right to draft all world QB prospect Albert Schwartz. Fresno fans have been waiting for many years.

Schwartz has never thrown for more than 4000yds or thrown for more than 25TD's. His career QB rating is just plain mediocre. So what’s going on out in Cali?

            HELP!!!!!!!!!
This is the word that Albert Schwartz has been screaming since arriving in Fresno. He needs help!! After watching “snap” Chapman walk in FA last year, the load was laid on former 1st rnd pick Gerald Johnstone. Johnstone responded with a 1200yd season on the ground. He solidified himself as the Warthog RB, no question. No HELP needed here.
The Warthog offensive line is one of the top units in the league as a whole, but boast the best left side in all of the IFL with starting LT Shaun Cunningham and LG Russell Winslett. The other side boasts long time Warthogs making the offensive line one of the most cohesive units in the IFL. No HELP needed here.
Solid running game and solid offensive line and the most gifted QB in the IFL = winning team.......just missing something here......
            SOME WR’S TO THROW TO!!!!
            HELP NEEDED HERE!!!
Once Nathan Mullin was traded away, there has been no elite WR on this roster. Schwartz has been forced to throw to average WR at best. Monty Hodel was brought in last year from MUR to lighten the load, but he never really got clicking with Schwartz. What about Irving Buerfeind that was brought in from CHI? He meshed better, but only played in 12 games. In fact Fresno’s top WR was Ernie Gregoire, and he failed to get 1000yds.
            What does Fresno do???
Fresno needs to make some moves this offseason and find themselves an elite WR. They may need to overpay to do it, but it will be well worth it. They may consider trading away either current or future picks in order to finalize a deal. We think this must be a point of emphasis for the Fresno front office. The 2nd option would be to move Schwartz at the peak of his career. This would bring in numerous draft picks and allow the team to draft a new QB as well as other key positions. This would be interesting to see what the most talented QB would garner in return.
The defense is very solid actually. The only weak point would possibly be the CB’s. This has been a focus of the Warthogs for a few years as 3 of the 4 CB’s on the roster have 4yrs or less in the league.
For the 3rd consecutive year the warthogs bring in a new head coach. Nathan Rapaport retired after the 2018 season and Norbert Carter was brought in. The team finished 10-6 and looked to be on the rise. In 2019, they brought in new talent hoping that this would propel them into the playoffs. Under Carter the Warthogs finished with just 5 wins, and was subsequently fired after just 1 season. Stanley Moore, a DC from Oakland, was hired to be a 1st time HC with Fresno. Moore’s record as a DC was 125-130-1 over 15 years with them. While his team record or team defensive performance’s never really was exceptional, Moore is still highly regarded around the league. Moore is still very young and is a great fit for this team.

            Free Agency
While there are no top notch WR’s in FA, there are a few guys that Fresno could target. Fresno only has $10,350,000 in cap space available at this point, however that 9th overall draft selection could chew up a large chunk of that. Fresno should focus on signing some system CB’s at reasonable prices in an attempt to upgrade the group.

            Draft
This is where it gets interesting. Fresno has a number of options....none of which are drafting a QB. With so many of teams drafting in front of Fresno needing a QB, you could see a top non QB fall to Fresno. I would think if fresno picks here they look to offense. This pick has great value, and they may just choose to trade the pick for an elite player, or additional picks. Let’s be honest here. This should be the last time the warthogs select this high in a draft for many years. They must get value here. For the rest of the draft, we expect the warthogs to draft the best player available with a slight hint on depth and need. Don’t expect Fresno to reach.

Looking forward to seeing what the Hogs do.
