It appears as though the reports we issued earlier were confirmed today as the Bulldogs fired 2 time reigning coach of the year for Tulsa Tigerhawks coach Eugene Poston.
A statement was released for publication;
After 7 years of trying to win with the same coach, we felt it was necessary for change. We wish CJ Gunn and J.R. Hummel much luck in their future endeavours. We just felt that a change was required for us to take the next step. Poston was part of the rebuilding PROcess in Tulsa. Poston won an Imperial bowl and got there 2 times. We feel that he can bring the right mind set to Newark and take our team to the next step. Bob Peebles is a innovative defensive mind and we feel like our defense needed an infusion. e need to make big plays there and be able to stop top notch offenses like Lawrence, Vermont, Tulsa, Oakland, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Madison.
All in all, we felt that we could have kept the same staff and continued to not advance in the playoffs or change and atleast try a different approach.
We look forward to continuing change within our organization in our attempt to win an Imperial Bowl Championship
regards
Matt
