1.24 Dave Bertolini DE Mississippi
6' 3" / 254 lbs
After C Mark Hoppe was picked with the 23rd selection, Bertolini was the player with the highest rating on the IWC draft board. He will have time to develop and add some weight before hopefully starting in the Snipe Hunters 3-4 defense. Despite his weight, Bertolini plays well against the run and can collapse the pocket when rushing the passer. He is not a finesse pass rusher and projects to be a RDE.
2.23 Tyrus Sanford G Utah
6'4" / 338 lbs.
Sanford is a big man at 338 lbs. and was drafted to help in the running game and open holes for RB Donald Ozguner. He is a strong man, posting 35 bench reps at the combine and surprisingly fast for his size, running the 40yd dash in 5.14 seconds. Tyrus will have a chance to compete for a starting job in training camp and at least provide some much needed depth.
3.22 Dusty Garrison RB Kentucky
5' 10" / 215 lbs.
Dusty Garrison may not be the fastest or most powerful RB in the world, but he recognises the hole well, can elude tackles and turn the corners. He is also a good blocker and a decent receiver out of the backfield.
His role will be limited to that of a backup, spelling Donald Ozguner throughout the game.
5.09 AJ Boose CB Syracuse
5' 9" / 188 lbs.
Boose will provide depth on the Cornerback position and battle with last year's 7th round pick Skip King for the 5th cornerback spot on the team. Boose is also expected to contribute on kick and punt returns, as he showed his skills at the combine posting the 3rd highest broad jump number.
5.25 Dexter Pierce OLB Mesa State
6' 0" / 227 lbs.
Small school prospect Dexter Pierce is an intelligent football player. He is decent against the run and better than average diagnosing the play. He lacks coverage skills and is not a very hard hitter. Pierce will provide depth at SLB and fight in training camp for a spot on the 53 man roster.
6.24 Jason Heffernan C Southern Mississippi
6' 2" / 269 lbs.
Jason Heffernan is also a very intelligent player. Despite his weight he is also a strong guy (30 bench reps at the combine). He will provide depth to the interior O-Line and also has value as a long snapper.
7.23 Grady Gillespie QB Syracuse
6' 1" / 218 lbs.
Gillespie is the second player drafted out of Syracuse by the Snipe Hunters. Gillespie is a project player who has good intangibles, but he will have to fight an uphill battle to secure a spot on the 53 man roster as the Snipe Hunters first 3 QBs are practically set.
