Murfreesboro – It has been an interesting off-season at the Mules complex in Murfreesboro Tennessee. First there was the disputed contract status of David Mitchell free agent DE from IFL champions Orlando Pirates. Mules leadership had a signed contract faxed to the complex and Mitchell was flying to Murfreesboro when IFL officials declared the contract void and made Mitchell a free agent - again. Of course the Mules were only made aware of the voided contract while in the middle of the press conference introducing David Mitchell to the Mules. Mitchell signed with the Norfolk Vipers for less than the Mules had offered him originally. The Mules protested the nullification of the David Mitchell contract, but the IFL declared the Viper contract for DE Mitchell valid.
But this was just the beginning of the off-season scandals of the Mules. Murfreesboro GM Kobeck signed a CAP specialist to assist, well totally control, renegotiated contractsand free agent acquisitions. Lucky “Pressure Point” Lucciano was hired to make the Mules CAP friendly and compatible with future Mule needs. After Pressure Point Lucciano did what only he does so well the Mules had ensured CAP friendly deals from some key Mules. After a through IFL investigation the contracts created and negotiated by Pressure Point Lucciano were deemed “not in the best interest” of the IFL and will be vetted during the next IFL off season. After discovering the non-IFL like contracts that Pressure Point Lucciano achieved the Mules immediatly informed the IFL and discharged the CAP specialist.
At the end of the off season the Mules had increased their depth with free agents and landed a Left tackle, Amos Barnhill, RB Joel Duffy and DE Grant Adams. All rookies will start from day 1 for the Mules.
Kobeck had this to say concerning the Mules off season “The Mules are always happy with every guy that signs, some when they get into the complex and some when they leave the complex. In Barnhill, Duffy and Adams case the rookies will fill critical roster shortcomings and the Mules are happy with their arrival. In Lucky “Pressure Point” Lucciano case the Murfreesboro Mules have completely disassociated themselves with him and the IFL will assist in bringing the Mule front office up to IFL standards.”
In other Mule news Barnhill signed his 4 year contract after a training camp holdout and Duffy has been cleared by the Mule medical staff after his rib injury in the pre season opener.
