Oakland press, Oakland, Ca
In what might be a surprise to most, Oakland has been busy this off-season. But they didn't pursue a safety or linebacker like most assumed they would. Instead, they have strengthened their offense, more specifically, their running game!

We spoke to Jave on his way into the complex this morning, curious about the recent additions of Texas FB Tyrell Smith and Georgia TE Casey Lofton, "Well, as you all know, I have somewhat of a passion for the fullback position. Until he was pillaged from my team like a thief in the night,FB Matthew Myer (2003-2015)would have retired with Oakland. I think so many teams downplay the benefits of a strong fullback. You have to understand, a strong FB is like the foundation of your team. When Myer's retired it broke my heart. Not only was he a strong addition to our team, he was also a good friend. A strong FB opens up so many avenues; he protects your quarterback from blitzing linebackers and defensive ends, he can run into the middle of 1200 pounds of lineman for that key first down, or move the pile across the goal line, or even catch a pass out of the backfield for a couple yards that could be the difference between a first down and 4th and short. He anchors the entire offense, IF you have a good one.
When we found out Smith was available, we jumped on it. While he has a history of injuries I truly believe he is beyond that now and ready to play a full season. He has great support, we have a great offensive line and he will be blocking for Wilson. What else is there to say haha?"
The move we are excited about is the addition of Casey Lofton. After the horrible injury of TE Claude Sanderson, which crippled his career, Oakland desperately needed a new weapon at tight end. Jave heard our cries and pulled off a trade with Georgia for underused and underutilized, Casey Lofton.
In his prime, Sanderson caught 7 touchdown passes so we know Donovan is excited to replace Claude with a formidable weapon and Lofton is going to be that guy. And we haven't even scratched the surface of the suddenly real potential that the addition of these 2 has.
What was already the best runningback in the IFL, now has two more weapons to block for him. While anything can happen, we here in Oakland believe what was already the best running game in the IFL, could become better. Watch out folks, it's gonna be fun to watch!
