Wayne Rogers returns to Oakland for his second year ready for a pro-bowl season. Starting all 16 games last year, Rogers plans to pave a path for rookie RB Connell to chase Tarts record, and keep Hamilton on his feet. Disgruntled Kenneth Clyde returns, unhappy, and will be pushed by rookie Deion Prestbye for the backup job.
Left Guard
Last years starter, Wilfredo Sheffield was sent to Little Rock in the mega-trade. Replacing him is last years backup, Herman Brandon. Only playing in 3 games last year, Brandon will have to show he can handle the position. Keep an eye on this to see if Brandon can back up his talk.
Right Guard
Johnny Ingraham starts his second year with the Assassins. Another of Oaklands "Rock" players, he also started all 16 games last year, however, that string was broken in this years first pre-season game as he went down for 5 weeks with a strained patellar tendon. Backup Clyde Kemp has temporarly taken over untill his return.
Left Tackle
Clyde Neves has been replaced at LT this year with promising rookie Gus Falkenberg out of Oregon State. Ticketed as a long term solution for the LT position, we will be seeing Falkenberg for alot of years to come.
Right Tackle
Despite allowing a team high 9 sacks last year, Don Barnes returns to the starting line up this year hoping to improve. " We fully expect Don to improve with a solid year under his belt. The sky is the limit for him, and he will continue to start for us."
