    LA ADDS ANOTHER WR

With the 28th selection in the 3rd round, LA Liberty select WR Artie Newman out of Virginia

WR was a glaring need for LA this off-season, and with the weak FA market the team added burner Newman to be a possible deep threat target for the Liberty offense.

      LA ADDS TO D-LINE

With the 8th selection in the 4th round, LA Liberty take DE Blake Talley from Northern Illinois.

Alittle late to be addressing such a pressing need, but with the possible transition of one of the teams interior linemen to DE, Talley should get time to play but not be rushed into starting right away, unless he amazes people in training camp.

Maybe we should force some GMs away for a while if this is the type of activity we get on return. This is bringing me back to the original IFL days of passion for the draft!!!

LIBERTY ADD 2nd CENTER - C FORD OK'd TO SEEK TRADE

With the 32nd pick in the 4th round, LA Liberty select C Jackie Fleming from Cal

With the center position in question going into the season the Liberty spent a 2nd pick on that position today with the addition of Fleming. He has solid speed and strength for an interior lineman and was a honor grad student at Cal.

With the new additions at center, veteran Luke Ford (who was on the trading block earlier this off-season) has requested and received permission to seek a trade. The team will obviously not demand much, but again another vet is being shown the door in LA.

            LIBERTY ADD OLINE DEPTH

With the 2nd pick of the 5th round, LA Liberty select G Melvin Kennedy from Wake Forest.

Some have questioned his strength numbers from the combine, but the other numbers show that he could be a solid addition. But his role will be strictly as a backup behind the teams two incumbent starters at the G position.

              LIBERTY ADD RB DEPTH

With the 31st Selection in the 5th round, LA Liberty select RB Lorenzo Stephenson from Oregon State

RB is a major need for the Liberty, but 2nd year back Gulden appears to be the man to take most of the carries this season. The addition of Stephenson will give him someone who can spell him on 3rd and passing downs

                LIBERTY ADD LINEBACKER DEPTH

With the 7th selection in the 6th round, LA Liberty select LB Mel Cervantes from Southern Arkansas

With Kidder and Garcia locked in as OLB starters the team did not feel LB was a major need, but the position did need some depth which is why the team made this selection.

                      LIBERTY ADD MORE DLINE DEPTH

With the 17th pick in the 6th round, LA Liberty Select DE Willie Schumann from BYU

Featured mostly as a pass rushing specialist in college, many teams stayed away from the talented DE due to his lack of speed and small frame. LA will give him the chance to prove him self at the next level due to their need for defensive ends.

LIBERTY BRING IN COMPETITION FOR PUNTER JOB

With the 6th pick in the 7th round, LA Liberty select P Ben Perez from UCONN

                        - #38 Ben Perez

While punter was not a need, the coaching staff felt that a little competition never hurt anyone. And considering their incumbent punter has yet to wow anyone at the team OTA's its not a surprise that the team made a low cost investment in some competition.

LIBERTY END DRAFT WITH FB DEPTH

With the 20th pick in the 7th round, LA Liberty select FB Warren Bergen from Duke.

Despite his small frame, the Liberty coaches feel the addition of Bergen gives the team a blocking and pass catching option at the fullback position. It will be interesting to see if Bergen makes the team after camp.

With this pick the Liberty end their 2014 draft with 14 new players brought in via this years draft, considering the teams overall age it is believed that many of these players will be on the roster in week 1 of the regular season. Next up TRAINING CAMP...
