One day after returning home from winning IFL Bowl XI in Shreveport, LA the World Champion Lawrence Phantoms treated their hometown to a Victory Parade that will no doubt raise the bar on IFL Championship celebrations!
Grabbing the eye of every parade goer and the hearts and attention of all children present was DE Vernon Copeland donning a yellow phantom mask and tearing it up with the Jabbawockeez. Vernon led the defense with 3 sacks in his "other Big Dance" a day earlier to help secure the win for our beloved team and on this day led the show with a surreal performance sure to be cemented in the memories of Phantom Phans for a long time to come.
Tobias Stanfield and Head Coach Howie Mooberry were both honored with 100+ ft. floats though Tobias' struggled to stay a float after getting caught on the St. Patrick's Church roof while crossing Salem Street on Rt. 28. prompting WR Dana Glover to grab the mike and tell the fans "Don't worry. That's just what old folks... I mean floats... do" while turning to smile at the veteran quarterback.
There were plenty of laughs to be had on this day where purple/blue (does anyone know the real color?) and yellow were all the eye could see beit banners, flags, hair, snowcones.... there were even two belly-dancers, one in yellow body paint and the other in purple, cross coordinated with a yellow and a purple elephant as the parade drew towards its end!
We all have moments that we live for. For this Phantom Phan you can chalk this up there as one of 'em!
