  • Stallions Falter and Lose Booker

    Bart Thompson
    SLC Times

Early in the second quarter Nigel Booker was lost to injury from a blindside hit by Snipe Hunter SS James Horvis (#37). Booker suffered a broken ankle and will likely be out for 5-6 weeks. "This changes everything for us", said Coach Pearson in the post game conference. "We've now got to find a way to stay competitive while Nigel is out and play catch-up in a divisional race we were already behind in".

When Pearson was asked if he thought this team could make the playoffs in the wake of this injury, he declined comment.

Truth be told, the Stallions won't be seeing the playoffs unless backup QB Carlton Quinn has been hiding talent from us. Moreover, the defense, which looked so promising in week1, needs to buckle down and play smart football.

Sure, its early in the season but the effect of losing Booker for five games may be be too much to overcome for this team. We'll find out next week when Coach Pearson leads this them into Pittsburgh to face the Power---our prediction, Power win big and the 2003 season becomes something we'd all like to see come to an end.

Tough loss, Keith. Hopefully Nigel will quickly get back on track when healthy.
