Tobias Stanfield, one week after his 34th birthday, showed his youth in rocking a 155.2 passer rating while leading the Phantoms to an enormous victory over the talented Firebirds and their vaunted defense.
Coming into the game the majority analysis was that the Phantoms offense wasn't of the caliber that could expect to have it's way with this season's stellar Firebird D. They needed to take what they could and hope for some breaks.
Well that's exactly what happened as the Phantoms didn't turn the ball over once and picked up two huge plays from TE Travis Kleman (46yd TD) and SE Dana Glover (80yd TD), who's been the hot target of Stanfield in the recent winning streak.
The defense, stacked at the line in respect of All-World talent Bobby Osbourne, did it's part - with help from some timely Montreal penalties - and now the Phantoms host the hated Bulldogs in one of Broke As Fuck Field's biggest regular season games in history!
Should Lawrence win they'll be in a tie for first place a mere 5 weeks after being the worst team in the league with a 1-8 record! The mood around Essex County could best be described as hysterical. Chants of "Beat... Dem... Bull... Dogs!" started before today's game even finished.
Folks I've seen every Phantom game since the start of this here IFL thing and I tell you I am fuckin' stoked for this one! Phantom Phans start drinking early... break out your purple and black gear... get your tailgate on... and root these guys back into the playoff picture with 2 weeks to go!!!
This is Spark Wonup signing off and running shirtless through the street...
