New GM CyYoung Ready for week 4 game
It's not very common for a GM to take over in the middle of the season. You have to evaluate everything from scout to coaching staff to players between 2 games. Well new Pittsburgh Power's GM, CyYoung did is homeworks and is ready for the remainder of the season. Here's a little interview with the man of the hour in Pittsburgh.
What's your priority now that you take over the Power job?
"My first priority was to know my own team. Evaluate every position and every contract situations we have on our team. This is mostly done and some contract offers are already done."
Can you give some info on the players you try to bring back next year?
"Well, to be a successfull franchise in this league, you need a good QB and we have one on our team with Mann and we want to keep him in Pittsburgh. I give a lot of importance to continuity and we have currently 22 players who's contract will be expired at the end of the season, including 8 starters. It's a very serious situation for me that will be addressed in the next few weeks."
How is the Tod Woods situation going?
"I didn't have the chance to talk to him nor his agent yet so I don't know for sure. I know what all you guys already knows. That he's one of the best defensive tackle in the league and that he's a franchise player on our team and not happy about it."
With the trade deadline coming in a week, do you have some discusions with other teams for any trade?
"You know I will not give you any details on that subject right? I can tell you that like any new GM, there's some things you like and there's some decisions that you're not sure about. So we'll listen to offers about some players but we're not in a hurry to move anybody. We like our team."
What is the strenght of this team in your opinion?
"I would have to say the lines. We have a lot of depth and talent on both side of the line and I like it. That's where everything starts. You give your QB some time and he will find an open receiver. You give lanes to your RB and he will do some damage. Same thing on defense."
What is the weakness?
"I think we have a good group of linebackers, but it's the only position we don't have a young guy waiting for his turn. We need younger players there and it will be one of the priority in the offseason. We also need more depth at safety"
What's your next task?
"Evaluate every players in the league. I want to know who's out there that could help us win a championship."
What kind of performance do you think this team can give you this year?
"I think we're definitely a playoff team. We lost 2 close game and killed Orlando in our win, I think we're better than our actual record."
