HARTFORD, CT - The fans of the Grizzlies made sure that team management knew how they felt about their first round pick. At least 50 fans stormed the Grizzlies off-season training facility and threw a party.
After a championship season in 2009, many fans were disgruntled with the new look Grizzlies last year. Instead of the ground it out team that they had grown to love, the Grizzlies tried more of a downfield attack. Without the ability to burn the clock, the defense was strained and eventually buckled under the pressure. The result was a disappointing season that saw the Grizzlies fall out of the playoffs.
Fans are hopeful with a new anchor at left tackle that the Grizzlies will get back to their glory days where they ran behind an All-IFL left side of their line, led by Wesley Flemming and Stephen "The Spanish Galleon" Suarez. Jim Hickman is also pleased, "If Young comes along like he should, we can let Hernandez and Jamison dictate the pace of the game. That opens things up in the secondary for me."
Despite the euphoria over the selection of Young, there has been some dissention about second round pick WR Jermaine Deboer. "Why do we need to go and get another WR bust for?" asked Dan Nogud. He continued, "They upgrade the line to burn the clock, but then get a WR with no hands so they can stop it?"
In response to fans' comments, GM John "Warhammer" Richert responded, "As long as they continue to put their butts in the seats, I don't give a damn what they think about my picks."
