After a grueling 12 hour surgery, Dr. Frank P. Cammisa proclaimed the procedure a "success". Said Cammisa, "from what I've heard and seen from Mr. Crespo, he's a strong young man and he should make a full recovery and be able to lead a normal life." Asked if he could comment as to if a "normal life" involved playing professional football for the Newark Bulldogs of the Imperial Football League, Cammisa would not comment. Crespo suffered a scary injury this past Sunday when while blocking DT Matthew Bramlett, had his legs rolled up by DT Bucky Tyrrell all the while his cleats were planted in the AstroTurf. Bramlett's weight bent Crespo right over. The hasty reaction both team's players spoke volumes as to the severity of the injury. Crespo then lay motionless on the field for over 10 minutes while paramedics tended to, then carted Crespo away. There would be no hand raise to the crowd from Crespo.
Only time will tell if one of the greatest players ever will be able to return, nor return to the form which he is known for.
